    quick transformer question

480 primary and 120/240 secondary. is there any issue with having a load on the 240 x1/x4 while still pulling a load on the x2/x3 and x4 for 120? assuming that both 240 and 120 loads combined are a max of 17.5 amps and the transformer is 40/20 amp rating for the kva and load outputs?

yep, first one i've ever seen like that, looks like a lot of ingenuity, but a lot of stubbornness for refusing to just grab a harbor freight one lol http://omaha.craigslist.org/tls/5515303823.html

    Cheap welding table!

got myself some scrap from work, built mostly out of 1.5x3/4x1/8 tube steel, and 1x1 angle. 4 heavy duty albion 8" wheels, a stop for the swivel side of the table. and the top is a 1/2"x21"x50" steel plate from a die that we scrapped at work. it took a while waiting for a good piece to show up...

Anybody have a source for dayton shop fan parts?

i get industrial fans cheap from work, they tend to just throw them out so i buy them at scrap price and repair at home. most of the time its a burned capacitor or they are dented beyond timely repair where they are cheaper to replace than having to wait for a replacement or keep more on hand...

Anybody ever use 12v tool batteries to power automotive components for testing?

lugging a car battery back and forth or using long leads trying not to short them out *****. also trying to tear off fuse panels just to get to a 12v constant source for testing isn't very friendly when you need a bunch of tools to tear stuff open and put it back hopefully not breaking clips...

questions about NCVT (non contact voltage testers)

i do enough electrical at work but im no electrical engineer. i understand the concept as to why the testers operate (i think) but don't understand why they sometimes can read DC voltage even though they are only supposed to read AC voltage. i'll put it anywhere near a 110v cord and i can get...
