Lotus Tig 200 or Eastwood Tig 200

So I am finally ready to get a TIG welder and my price range and requirements put me at the Eastwood Tig 200 or Lotos Tig 200. Basically two identical spec Chinese welders. I am looking for thoughts and opinions on these. I can't afford a better welder, bottom line, so please don't tell me to...

Looking for Snap On hard handles

Can't post in classifieds yet, but I am looking for 2 snap on hard handles for s 3/8 and 1/2 ratchet. Not concerned with the color or condition as long as they are not cracked. Going to drill out and install on my Wright ratchets. Already installed comfort grips but didn't drill the right size...

Twin Pawl Taiwan Ratchets - Proto Design?

I for years have seen the twin pawl (twin dogs as Proto calls them) that are usually made in either China or Taiwan and always wondered the origin of the design. Looking at old Proto ratchets, I think I found my answer. Is Proto the original designer and patent holder for this design? Why do...

    72t Double Pawl Ratchet Question

So I was noticing that Tekton and HF show the pawl springs installed in opposite ways on their websites. What is the correct way. Big end on the pawl or little end?

Pittsburgh Pro Ratchet Question - Missing part?

When I opened my 3/8 and 1/2 Pittsburgh pro ratchets to lube them, I notice the 3/8 did not have the stainless spring ring between the anvil and cover plate. This is on the low profile red and black handle version. The thicker head quick release ones do. It takes up the play inside the...

Mastercool 99872-A Intelligent Digital Manifold Gauge Set

Anyone have experience using these and are they worth the extra money over conventional manifold sets? I ordered a Harbor Freight 3 CFM vacuum pump but don't want a cheap manifold set. Are there better options than digital for around $100? What about the other Mastercool sets? Was also...

    Proto Challanger Tools

So on the way back from the Outer Banks I found a 1/4" extension laying in the parking lot. It said Challenger then under it, Proto. Is this a sub brand of Proto? I assume they are good?

Wright Double vs Single Pawl Ratchets

So I always thought the 4400 was a double pawl until I cleaned it. I know there are versions that look to have the same size head that are double. Anyone know if a double pawl repair kit will fit in 4400?

The real deal on a spline drive!

So I noticed that even the companies like Snap On and Wright are making spline drive sockets. They are universal to most drive types. The logic seems to be there, but seeing them as universal in the big box stores has kinda jaded me. Does anyone use these in the professional job, outside of...

    Harbor Freight Pittsburgh Pro Ratchets

I recently bought a set of these to see if they were worth throwing into a travel tool kit. I must say they are pretty nice for less than $45 with coupons. They will never replace my Snap Ons but I worked the 3/8 over pretty good doing suspension work and it did well. My question is about what...

Replacements Grips for Wright 3400 and 4400

I sent an email to Wright, but still no response on this subject, but do they still sell replacement grips for the 3400 and 4400? I can't see having to replace the ratchet if the handle tears.

    Craftsman Pro Screwdrivers

I have always been a fan of the Craftsman Pro screwdrivers that are modeled after the SO instinct line. Seems like the price has gotten pretty high on eBay for these, but I found two new 40 piece sets on eBay for $500 each. That seems pretty reasonable to me. Any body else a fan of these?

    Wright 1/2" Ratchet Disassembly Question

I have an older Wright ratchet with the olive tootsie roll handle. I removed the snap ring to clean the head. the complete assembly came out with no issue, but the selector dial appears to me mounted in someway to the head that makes it non removable. Does anyone know if the selector dial...

    Tapered Base Husky Sockets

I got a set of Husky sockets from a friend who worked for Stanly about 10 years ago. They use to give their employees tools for either free or a greatly reduced cost. I don't have a pic, but they are the tapered base 12pt SAE that look ALOT like the MAC version. Been looking at the MAC set on...

    Snap On FH80 Issue

So to my extreme disappointment I ordered two FH80s only to discover that both had bent handles. This occurred during the manufacturing process and Snap On replaced both with no issue, but wth. Oddly they didn't even want the old ones back and are aware of the situation, but the fact they...

    Snap On Dual 80

So I made the plunge and bought the dual 80 3/8 comfort grip ratchet. I may never touch my 936s again. This is the smoothest ratchet I have used yet. To me for everyday, it has the perfect balance. I will post pics if I can ever figure out why they are not loading.

    **** Avatars- yes or no

So I got to thinking about my avatar after a post was made concerning the ****** nature of mine. Is it offensive to the lady's here or guys? Should it come down? I admire anything with graceful lines...cars, tools and women, but don't want to offend. In the car world **** girls and **** rides...

Snap On Rebuild Projects - Pics

I thought I would share a couple of the Snap On Ratchets I have rebuilt. I am including before and afters. The 936 had that coating that Snap On offered at one time, looks like chrome to protect the chrome, but is evil as evil gets. Flakes off and gets under your nails. Took 2 hours to get it...
