    Cheap lights at Goodwill

I stopped at my local Goodwill today. I was looking for a new keyboard (and found one) but browsing around the store I found they had a rack of new 4 foot 5000K LED shop lights for $6.99 each. (y) I bought some to replace the dim fluorescents in my basement workshop and they're pretty nice...

Building a heated concrete driveway apron for Arctic conditions

I saw this video tonight and thought other people here would find it interesting. It's a guy in Sweden, pouring an apron in front of his shop that includes hydronic heat. The temperature during the pour was around or below freezing. He's apparently sort of a novice for finishing concrete, but...

Got a warrantee replacement hammer from Snap-On

About 40 years ago I got one of those plastic tip Snap-On hammers, that has one face made of hard plastic and the other tip is rubber. Apparently the rubber tip just got dried up and brittle over time, and it finally just broke into bits. I wasn't sure if Snap-On would cover warrantee...

    Amish barn move

The topic of how the Amish will sometimes move a barn by getting a couple hundred guys to pick it up and carry it comes up here every so often, but is usually only accompanied by a photo. Here's a video that shows how it's actually done.

    Directional boring video

The RR Buildings YouTube channel's latest video shows how they directional bore conduit for underground electrical service to his new shop building. They have to go a couple hundred feet, including under a small creek. It's a pretty good instructional video to show how the process works. In...

Vintage Craftsman ratchet - what era?

I got this old Craftsman ratchet from my brother yesterday, he was cleaning out a house he bought. It needs cleaning and lubrication but seems to work well. Any idea on what era it's from? I haven't seen one like it before.

    Tools by the pound

I was at a car show today and noticed a vendor selling new tools by the pound - I thought it was a novel approach. It was all offshore stuff but it looked fairly decent, mainly sockets and socket sets.

Matt Cremona is a woodworker in Minnesota, and he recently built a 40x72 barn equipped with closed cell spray foam insulation and in floor radiant heat. In his latest video he discusses the installation costs for both - since price is a common topic here I figured it would be a useful reference.

Why you should wear face protection when using an angle grinder.

Edit: Video clip removed...others are pointing out it was faked, so I'd rather not be the source of a big argument. Regardless, wearing proper PPE when using a cutting wheel is important.
