    Mystery Tool Identification

Ok guys, I’m stumped with this one. We’re cleaning out the shop and making room for storage of stuff we actually use and we found this. Nobody has any clue what these are. They’re in a cased set, they look like some sort of tap, but it’s not aggressive or very sharp. Any idea is appreciated.

    Buried Padlocks

We have a large amount of buried padlocks at my facility and invariably they end up rusting shut and we can't unlock them and resort to cutting them off. Has anyone here in the hivemind successfully weatherproofed one? I know when we bury utilities we have to wrap some of the unions and fittings...

    Horse hair brushes

Does anyone know if you can find horse hair brushes or buffs for use in a drill etc. with a hex end and possibly some that would mount to a bench grinder? I want to speed up cleaning my work truck and polishing my boots if at all possible. I know at shoe repair/leather shops I have seen what...

    B&D Professional/Wildcat grinder

Snagged a Black & Decker Professional Model 4076 "Wildcat" grinder off marketplace for $25 this week. I'm sure I already know the answer, but the threads on the spindle are standard 5/8-11 I'm assuming? I need to find a new nut for it, but for $25 I kind of expected to need some repairs. But it...

What is this style snap on handle called?

Got this partial set of flare nut wrenches off FBMP and I’m trying to get last pieces to complete the set. Is this considered the I beam handles? And if so what do I need to complete the set?

    Hydraulic Fluid cleanup

Does anyone have a recommended way to clean hydraulic fluid out of a truck bed and off the bumper? We had to transport a broken cylinder to the dealership to try and match it with a new one and it leaked out all over the bed of the truck it was riding in and has made a hell of a mess. Dawn dish...

    Work vans

I have a question for those of you who operate out of a van. We have a Ford E-150 that is otherwise using up space at our shop and we would like to turn it into a work van so we can keep our maintenance supplies and tools handy for our most common issues that arise. How many of you built your...

    Tractor toolbox

We surprised my dad with a 1974 Ford 4000 SU for Christmas this year, and I am trying to put together a set of necessary tools for the box on his tractor. What do you guys who play with tractors leave onboard? He has a bum right hand, so I am trying to avoid crescent wrenches as much as possible...

    Socket organizer improvements

Has anyone tried to add magnets to the Hanson socket organizers to help hold them on the pegs? I'm thinking of gluing some rare earth magnets into the holes on the bases of them to keep them on the pegs better but before I go down this path and piss away time and money I want to see if someone...

    Auto body panel tools

What does the hive mind recommend for body panel removal tools? I need to pull the interior panel off my dad's Yukon to reattach the door handle for him and want to make this as painless and easy as possible.

    Pneumatic Grease Guns

Does anyone still use a pneumatic grease gun? I'm thinking about getting one for the shop at work since we do all of the lube work and PM stuff in a bay with air readily available. I like the cordless ones, but they would just be an added cost and something to lose or get stolen out in the...

    Rubber Bumpers

Does anyone know where I can source these? Or even where to search for them or what they’re called? We are repairing our docks and boat ramps and want to make sure we provide as much protection as possible for the boaters.

    Porta band blades

Can anyone give me a table of blade speeds and TPI for different materials? As well as blade suggestions? We ended up running all the teeth off some of the HK Morse/HF rebrands cutting some old pipe down to scrap it out. Thank you all for your hive mind of knowledge.

    6 point combo wrenches

Does anyone know of any 6 point combo wrenches that fit into the void that Craftsman left behind? I would like some for the shop at work but I know they wouldn't get used as much and Don't want to spend a ton of money on them. And now that SK has reorganized I feel like there are even less...

    Testing battery chargers

Does anyone have a good way to test the rolling battery charger/jump starters used in garages and shops? We have 3 or 4 around our shop at work and it's a total gamble which ones work and don't and I want to just test them and trash what isn't working anymore but I don't know how to test them...

    Craftsman ball peen hammer

Got this cheap enough on the recent prime days to make it worth trying out. Has anyone compared this to its Stanley/Proto/Mac stable mates yet? Hard not to notice the similarities in the head shape. But it doesn’t go hard into the anti vibration sales pitch like Mac and Proto do.

    Marketplace score

Got lucky. Guy had a Wright 3/4 drive model 6400 for sale on face space marketplace, for $35! Somehow I moved in on it before anyone else could. Needless to say I have yet another 3/4 drive ratchet I have basically no use for, but none of my friends have them so I’m the king of the hill.

    Bench Grinder Switch

The grinder at our shop is a stud horse for us, but the switch finally gave up the ghost after 50 or so years of indifferent maintenance, long periods of sitting, dust, grime and seasonal/temporary employees. This is the switch we need...

    SK 3/4 drive repair

Can anyone help me get this fixed? I need to get the retaining clip out of this ratchet and repaired or replaced but it’s stumping me. It has slipped into the ratchet head and it’s a bear. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
