Who Makes Deep Sockets with External Hex Flats

Similar to sparkplug sockets, but with no skips. Astro (and a whole host of other companies) make nano stubby sockets that have either a 17mm or 19mm external hex drive which is excellent, but I want a deep version - makes for tightening recessed strut nuts a cinch that also require a...

M12 Fuel Right Angle Impact Wrench/Ratchet

M12 Fuel Right Angle Impact Wrench/Ratchet (2564-20) Ooooooh baby. Going to be a hard choice between this or the regular ratchet even though the latter has a much slimmer head.

Spotted: Milwaukee Model 20 (Dennis McCarthy content)

You may know him as the guy responsible for the vehicles from the Fast and Furious franchise, cars aside he also appreciates a good jack. Wonder if he's a fellow GJer?

VFD (3PH) or Reeves Drive for Drill Presses

Anyone have a preference? I know Reeves drive gets worse over time and needs to be maintained and rebuilt once in a while, but aside from that it's a neater package than the VFD combo.

    Dimmer Help Needed!

I need to make a LED lightbulb dimming tester and was planning to do the following: 1) Buy a 8 circuit subpanel and populate with breakers (one per dimmer circuit) 2) Hook up dimmers to CB's 3) Wire up dimmers to lightbulb socket What I'm concerned about is if I literally wirenutted all of the...

    Converting Rigid Casters to Swivel?

Any other options than buying a set of heavy duty turntables from RWM? Looking to put a set of Faultless spring-loaded casters on my KRL, and a 'center that sells surplus' has them for super cheap, $20 each for the rigid plate version. Trying to get them to work, when the alternative is around...

    Cranberry KRL761 Score....

Finally, after god knows how many years I've waited for a deal to come up at the right time. $1240 Canadian Loonies delivered to my door by who else, but a Matco franchisee :lol_hitti. Yes, I overpaid by $240 but that was in hopes that he wouldn't sell it to someone else, still I think the grand...

Are all Nupla hammers made in the USA?

Looking at a couple ball peins/peens on Amazon, can't seem to find the COO. I know their deadblows are American made, but not too sure about the others.

Identifying Correct Ring Order on Compressor Piston

Silly old me didn't take enough pictures when taking the pump apart for its rebuild, now I can't seem to remember if the wipers/rails go below or above the scraper rings in the top two grooves. I have a set of scrapers that I took out for the oil control spacer (ziptied to the ring bundle), but...

How big is too big...adjustable wrenches that is

18"? 24"? Saw a 18" Irega 77 locally, just thought if I should wait for a 24" because 18" is already oversized for many jobs hence fits the same niche as the 24" - except the 24" is longer and bigger. We all love longer things. :bounce:

Rockwell Brushless Impact Wrench - Who Makes Them?

This popped up locally at Canadian Tire (https://www.rockwelltools.com/en-US/20V-Brushless-Impact-Wrench-RK2855K2.aspx): Looks pretty nice and compact, and at $250 plus tax (Loonie dollars), it's significantly cheaper than a comparable DeWalt or Milwaukee Fuel. Who makes them? Max torque is...

Converting rust...let phosphoric acid dry on surface, or rinse with water or ???

So I did the acid etch today to the inside of my rusty crankcase, has been thoroughly wirewheeled, but couldn't get to some pits so I got some concrete etch which was 15-40% phosphoric acid. Diluted it abit and dumped it in a spray bottle and sprayed it liberally. Stuffed the crankcase in a...

Oil seal - to silicone or no?

Installing an oil seal that does not have factory applied sealant on the metal shell - should I silicone it in? Or is there a more preferred sealant?

Flange sealant/Gasket dressing with gasket or put them in dry for compressor head?

Another question, (anaerobic) flange sealant with gaskets or no? Also, sealant in between the shim pack, or just stack the shims up and sealant on top and bottom only? Have seen some compressor guys put in anti-seize, some put them in dry. :dunno:

Interstage Pressure Relief Valve Ratings on 2-Stage Compressors?

My Kellogg didn't come with one (come to think of it, there were no relief valves anywhere, not even before the check valve...), would like to plumb one in. I keep on hearing 75PSI being thrown around, is this a decent ballpark? Kellogg doesn't support the 331 anymore, and I am not sure it was...

    Wirewheeling Compressor Pistons?

Wanted to clean them up, obviously blasting isn't an option, so I wanted to wire wheel them clean. Wont be touching the lands, but is everything else fair game?

Paging Hiball and Others, 93642 Rebuild Kit in 93632?

What were the differences between the two aside from ratings? Found a 93642 kit for dirt cheap and was wondering if I could put it in my 93632.

Selecting Replacement Needle Bearings - Precision Ground vs Non for Wrist Pin?

Obviously precision ground costs more (in this case, 2.5 times) but at the same time, I cannot find a replacement wrist pin (50's era Kellogg 331 compressor) for a reasonable price so I plan on reusing the old wrist pin. It has been running on a damaged full complement needle bearing for a while...

No ASME Stamp on Compressor Tank? Help Deciphering Data Plate

No manufacturer either, weird. I can only discern the following from it: I understand maybe half the markings such as the minimum shell thickness of 0.1862" and the minimum head thickness of 0.1420" as well as the max pressure and temp, but everything else is gibberish to me. Can anyone help...
