I could really see this being useful in the service truck, much better than having to drag hose and fire up the compressor not to mention there have been times I couldn't get the truck close enough for a hose to reach and had to use the multiplier to get the job done.

To accommodate for the torque loss when using an impact. It allows you to use a 1/2" impact to overcome the torque loss but still use 3/8" impact swivels that are a much package.

I have a Matco (i think) 3' extension, 1/2" female to 3/8" male and its impact rated. Needed it for bell housing bolts once and have used it MANY times since then and it has really saved my bacon a few times.

Having done quite a few of them in the shop, I would definitely recommend NOT using an impact. There are many reasons for this and we can argue them all day but for the risk/benefit, your better off getting out the breaker bar or ratchet.
