Where do you see the forward/reverse selector? The little part in the handle trigger is a safety flip switch to prevent the tool from being accidentally turned on.

I think they call it heat anodizing. It's very popular in the knife world to color folding knife handles. I have seen some sophisticated designs, much more complicated than that pattern.

Not sure that I see it in any of your pictures, but you will also need a check valve to work with your unloader. The valve should be directional from the pump into the tank and the unloader should be piped in after the check valve to prevent the "unloaded" pressure from returning to the pump.
