    Craftsman Premium Grade Ratchets

I use Marvel Mystery Oil in mine with good results. My 1/4 drive had issues when I got it, but after a thorough cleaning and relube, I haven't had any more problems. The 3/8 drive I got recently has been trouble free so far.

    File cabinets and metal cabinets

I picked up a media cart that I am using for one of my machinist chests. A couple of knobs from the thrift store and a new lock from Ace Hardware and I was in business.

    P & G Valve Gapper

Here is a link with instructions and pictures. http://www.ctci.org/gilsgarage/ValveGapperInstructions.php You could check your valve lash with the engine running to get a high level of accuracy. I am old enough to remember when they were advertised in Hot Rod, Car Craft, etc..

    South Bend 13 Lathe

Best of luck with your new lathe. Been through way too much machinery moving and know what a stressful experience it can be...looks like you handled it well. Makes sense to break it down if you are planning a refurb anyway.

Getting real tired of the Ebay Seller with all the Craftsman Stickers

Amen. Those can't be authorized by the brands involved. I am surprised that he has got away with this for so long.

Thanks for the info Hootbro. I had no idea what was going on with Urrea.

Urrea tools. Is this a trustworthy brand?

I have a 1/4" drive Urrea ratchet and like it fine, the parts interchange with Proto.

    Proto 3/8 Socket Set???

I really like Proto tools and have quite a few. The only thing I might add is to use your lube of choice on your new ratchet. All the new Proto ratchets I have had were bone dry when I got them.

    Proto ratchet

I've got a lot of Proto stuff and have not had any problem with the detent ball. I have had a few that were a little tight though. What I did was find a socket that was particularly hard to get off and on and used it to find the high spots where it was pretty much metal to metal. Then I used...

do I need to lube my new Armstrong 88 tooth aerospace ratchet?

I would open it up and check it. I have bought a couple of new Proto ratchets recently and they were bone dry. My Craftsman premium ratchet didn't work well at all until I cleaned it a lubed it with Marvel Mystery oil. I don't consider any ratchet ready to go until I have a look inside.

9/32-inch square drive Plomb, Snap-On, more

The reverse cam from the current Proto 4749 ratchet fits the Plomb 9/32 drives. I had one ratchet that had been ground down and had so much wear that I reamed the plates to take the 1/4 drive Proto gear. I used some shim washers to reduce the end play and it made a really nice ratchet. That...

Top 5 ratchets of all time

I agree with you on the Proto ratchets. Timeless, I am using parts from my Proto repair kits to fix my old Plombs.

I do. The blow molded cases take up a lot of room.

    P&C 1/4" Ratchet?

For what it is worth, I took a Proto 4750 open gear 1/4 inch drive ratchet (the same as the P&C) that was missing its guts and installed all the parts from a similar Thorsen and it works just fine. Since I am more of a Proto guy, I guess that means I now have to find a nasty looking Thorsen in...
