    Light orientation

Thanks for the feedback platonic. I think 8 will be better. Counting the openings between joists, 8 will make it more even anyways..,

    Light orientation

I’m wanting to upgrade the lighting in my old timber frame barn. This will be under one of the two hay lofts which will be used for parking the mower and some smaller equipment, as well as an alternate workshop. Due to the low ceiling height and how close tractor exhausts are to the joists, the...

I used two of these in a 40x48x14 with their on the wall controller (speed and fwd/rev). They have been awesome...

    40x48x14 Farm Shop

I attached screenshots of the quote that we accepted. Concrete was $9k and change. Shell was $25k. Add in $10k for insulated and liner. Spray foam added $1k to this price. We also used more gravel than expected. Wiring and the office was done myself.

    40x48x14 Farm Shop

Well, there hasn't been a whole lot of updates on the shop this winter but having heat has been a significant upgrade! The furnace really does not run a whole lot and recovers quickly when the doors have been open for a couple minutes. I was able to get the Bridgeport rebuilt and running with...

Need someone to draw on my new shop

If you expect someone to design your building in CAD, you should give them some idea as to what to design... Is this a 10x10 shed on skids and a door or a 60x100 building with a flat roof. You at least need some hand sketches of the size, layout of doors, etc and to specify vinyl siding, sheet...

Running ENT to old work drywall boxes

Well number9, I decided against smurf tube for my case. When I went to lowes I realized the ENT was over $1 a foot in 25ft rolls and I had a few hundred feet to run; it wasn't worth it to me. I just bought some low voltage old-work boxes and popped them in the drywall and ran two drops of...

Running ENT to old work drywall boxes

Yes, I could just pull the Cat5e / Cat6 but would like to future proof to some extent, hence the reason for ENT or smurf tube. I will probably run PVC conduit for the longer runs: Outside of house to distribution point/ethernet switch and to the outside of the house where it goes to the shop...

Running ENT to old work drywall boxes

I'm wanting to run ENT through out my house for CAT6. The shop will be connected, so kind of garage related.:) I would prefer not to bust a bunch of drywall to get to a stud and mount a nail on low voltage box with a knockout to hookup the tube. Does anyone know of any old work boxes/rings with...

    Recommend exterior shop light ?

I used 3 of these on the outside my shop and am very happy. I later added 2 more to the outside of the nearby old barn. Pictures are at the end of my build thread. They are mounted at about 12ft https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MSVY8TR/?tag=atomicindus08-20

What sized TLB for building my house

Don't even bother with a 25hp loader backhoe for doing real work like you are talking. Not even talking power wise, you won't have the weight and traction to do any real loader work or the backhoe width or reach to dig a house foundation. We have a L5030 50hp Kubota and it does fine for most...

Three phase only VFD running on single phase 240

I would second calling the MFG. I just put a Teco on my mill though. It was super simple to hook-up and program. I was originally going to use a Hitachi but the manual was 400 pages vs 100 on the Teco.. I would recommend it.

Wire and conduit selection for 100A feed to sub panel?

Or you could call your local electric supply house and have it cut to the exact length you want at half the cost per foot compared to Lowes/HD. Anything #6 and over I went to the supply house, it was literally half the price of Lowes...

    VFD Wiring

The Liquidtite metallic conduit probably isn't a bad idea. My enclosures and TECO VFD will be here early next week. If you look close at my motor I already have a new Baldor motor that is inverter ready (new ebay surplus). I eliminated the old motor and variable pulleys due to a 600v motor and...

    Overhead to underground service residential

I did this last spring. I dug the trench and ran the conduit to the pole. The power company paid for and installed the wire in my case. They were happy to go underground to eliminate the risk of downed trees on the line. Once the conduit was in place the poco cut power. Electrician removed Old...

    VFD Wiring

Thanks guys. I'll run THHN for the motor and shielded 18ga for the low voltage circuits. I figured the VFD cable was overkill but just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy.
