I just got done (this past Saturday) installing 2 HD9ST lifts. I used Hydraulic fluid which I bought at the local NAPA auto supply. They had 5 gallon, 1 gallon and quart sizes. When it was time to tighten the cables, I just used the motor to inch the cables tight, a small amount at a time...

Good reply James - here in CT not only is the ground rod a good idea - it is a code requirement for a detached structure. Here you have confirmation from another licensed electrician of the same advice from most of the rest of us. Make this safe! Tim

#3 copper THHN is rated for 110 amps per table 310.15 of the NEC - use 3 legs of this for the hots and neutral. #8 will be fine for the ground. Going up one size, #2 is rated 125 amps. 2" conduit is plenty large enough for either size.
