Hey guys. First and most likely not the last time joining in this fun thread. Stopped at a local pawn shop and got a digital Starrett caliper for 35 bucks, a like new Warner 32' fiberglass ladder and the odd (pencil sharpener?) looking thing for a buck. Anyone know what it is?

Missing some paint... should've offered $30Wilton 1755 for $40
Nice opening post, Jake. Now, I'm going to violate one of the rules.
My favorite flea market was digging out from under the flood, so I went on to another antique shop that has been good to me a few times. I picked up a big cast iron electric/manual cream separator for $40. SWMBO was with me, and I figured the price would be much higher and I could pass with a clear conscience. No such luck. Good thing she's so understanding! I think with its heavy, bolt-down base it will make a good grinder stand. And, for $2 I scored a very interesting pair of parallel-jaw pliers. The mechanism is kind of like a Crescent wrench - never seen anything like them.
No pictures - but I'll get some and post them later. Really!!
It is for making dowels used in woodworking. Hammer thru to groove the piece and then sharpen to point if need be.
Thanks a lot Spike. That pattern looked familiar but the sharpener threw me off.It is for making dowels used in woodworking. Hammer thru to groove the piece and then sharpen to point if need be.
Haha!! Thanks BlueBomber, glad to be here and still wondering why I lurked so long.Uh oh, a guy named BlueBomb hitting garage sales. Maybe he'll have more staying power than me.
Welcome, BlueBomb - nice finds!
Was #8 on line this morning and got in with the first wave. I ran to one corner with a stack on box and stood my ground and searched every inch. The first thing I grabbed was the small red box with the Bausch & Lomb loupe in it, I knew it was a goodie. This will get me back what I spent today threefold.
After searching I went to see if there were any scraps left in other areas and came up with a few like the chart and machete.
Cody, that box is not worth more than $40 imho, I would have to really be in a spending mood to even pay that for it after owning one. They are not built as well as a comparable Kennedy, again jmo but they look cool so there's that.

Btw i went to a estate sale a few months back but i over slept and was about 30th in line and missed out on this wilton bullet vice they only wanted $35 for it and i wanted to see how bad i screwed up on it? I have seen these anywhere from under $50 to over $300 and i am not sure where this one falls in?
You can see the price on the top of it! I know i was pissed all day that i didn't get it. I felt like offering the guy who bought it double what he paid but i am sure he knew what he had.

Not sure what size that one is but it's worth at least double that if it's not damaged. I think I paid more for a 5" one that was damaged and still got $40 or $50 for just the swivel base,

I don't know if the cream separator will work for a grinder stand; the big, sturdy center column is shorter than I thought, and that three-armed bucket support may not be strong enough. We'll see.
BFBOB:
Thanks for putting up pics of your cream separator. Could see it being used as grinder or even a vise stand.
A year ago I bought a DeLaval which I intended to sell, but still have and restored it back to working condition.

What do you guys think is the time you should arrive at a estate sale if you see something you really want like the wilton vise?
