I've had nothing but bad luck. Either the stuff comes up full price (not available at local stores, but they'll ship it for full price), or the site says they're on clearance and in stock, but when you get to the store, the item is impossible to find.

Two of the managers here (different stores) told me that if the online inventory says they have three or less of an item, that means they probably have zero. Every store I went to mentioned the rise in shoplifting.

I didn’t have the money to spend when this was $359 and haven’t seen it drop back down. Is this as low as it will go or should I wait?4067bf5e22c21d9bfc32a4752389ec6f.jpg

It's an 8.25 miter saw. Kinda useless for anything but trim work

I'm real wary of "Special Deal" pricing at this point.

I got this a couple of weeks ago. It was showing limited stock/clearance at my local HD on Brickseek (link below). I went in and it was price checked $320 although they didn't think they had any. I located one myself in the rafters. If you can go in store and find one (up high because they're not on the floor) I'm 80%+ you'd get the same deal (if it's showing stock/clearance on Brickseek). It's ten minutes of looking up walking around trying to find the Dewalt miters up high and see if a 779's there but once/if you locate one in the store (which is the key) it's pretty straightforward. Buying online and getting it delivered seems to be a different deal. Good luck........!

I didn't get a pic. The HD in Roswell, GA has the DeWalt Flexvolt pancake compressor floor model on sale for $150 (usually, $299). I thought about it for a track tire inflator, but don't REALLY need it.

Yep, I noticed. Nothing but China-made Bessey in my store for the past year or two.

How can you tell the difference from the two when the tags are off?

I was at my local home depot tonight and they did have two tradesman Bessey 40" clamps left. All else were the China ones. In store the tradesman was the only one that had Bessey stamped in the head. I bought two 2' and two 3' last year but I am not sure where they were made. Did all the different length/strength germany Bessey clamps say Bessey on them?

Should I go back and pick them up?

Yesterday I found one DUSTY tradesman on the rack at another store up north. I wanted a set of 4 clamps after using the previous 3.

Went back to that 1st store today and 6 fresh 40" German Tradesman were hanging on the rack. Guess I triggered their restock when I bought those 3 last week. The only other clamps that are German are the Welding clamps.

When the Tags are off it has BESSEY cast on one side and GERMANY on the opposing side. The China besseys have an almost chrome bar while the germans are more of a forged look with a matte nickel finish. The PRC tags are a dead giveaway with the new font and lifetime warranty.

Thanks 4BT.

I can now offer more differences as well. I have 2 bessey light duty and 2 bessey medium duty clamps, 2' and 3'. I searched around for images and sure enough.... Just like USA is proud of their builds, so is Bessey Germany. The made in Germany light duty bessey does not say Bessey on the head like the Tradesman, but it does have Germany stamped into it. So I believe most all Bessey German clamps will have the German stamp.

So are the Tradesman still being made in Germany and the stock we see not the last?

The welding clamps have "Germany" located on the bar of the clamp.

I bought my tradesmans to clamp a cabinet door that had split vertically along the grain near the hinge point. They were OVERKILL, but cranked down the two halves with some red Titebond. Every other size was the new bright chrome bar with new package tags. I really wanted some smaller clamps but looks like it won't be happening locally

The one's I've seen were stamped as such, like gentlemen before me stated and showed. I look at the clamps just about every time I'm in Home Depot, hoping to find German Bessey, but have only seen China made clamps for the past few years.

Yep, it's a shame, Pony and Jorgensen were my go-to but HD removed them years ago and replaced with Bessey. Now new Bessey, Pony and Jorgensen all look similar with handle color being the only distinguishing factor. I really like the Bessey bench vises but I refuse to pay premium prices for HF quality.

Assembled in USA with global components is just insulting my intelligence. We all know everything is manufactured in PRC factories, then shipped over here and assembled. SMH

It matters, but it doesn't. Just wear a mask, use order pickup when you can, and don't bring kids through the store if you don't have too.

Thanks for this!
Local store has a bunch. I grabbed a few when Lowes got rid of them 2 years ago and found them pretty handy. Motorcycle oil changes, draining toilets for replacement, getting water out of broken dishwashers.

These must be an older model, they don't have the valve on the hose connection that lets you build vacuum and then open to ****. Picture shows the valve.

What matters is your local restrictions.
Best to bring one along if needed, but it is pretty easy to stay social distant at hd. Funny how people at Walmart will still just barge in front of you while shopping... Not really how it is at home depot.

My local store is showing some of those oil changers in stock. Might have to check it out.

Makita CT225R, cordless, non-brushless, 18V, drill & impact driver combo, 2 2ah batt + single slot charger. The compact set. Just put on clearance at my local HD, $140. Retail $200, had been $160 for a while since non-BL. Not a great deal but less than the sum of the parts and a pretty solid set. It wasn't in the clearance section at the end of aisles but in the racks of the 'good deals' section next to the Makita stuff. YMMV.

I grabbed one of the oil changers although there were two on the shelf, kind of hidden away in one of the many oil displays. Kind of old and dusty but in good shape otherwise.

Seems like $9 should be the every day price but maybe I am missing something.

Regular price I think is around $30. They are quite useful. I grabbed one on clearance last year and it works well.

I've sometimes found the handheld price to be different from the price that rings up at the register. You could ask a cashier to do a price check and give them the picture you took or get the barcode off Brickseek and scan it at self-checkout or maybe the picture you took will scan at self-checkout. Although, if it rings up for a penny, it always is better to have the item on hand. If it was me, I'd check the price myself on a Pro Desk computer.

I was in yesterday and the garage door openers are no longer under the Clearance shelf. Calling and doing a price check says they're now $99 and that there's only a few in stock. Normally they tell the specific number in stock, this time they used the word 'few' instead.

I kinda think the employees may have hidden them in the back somewhere. Unlike many of the deals I see in this thread, my local store seldom has anything in the Clearance area at clearance prices, other than weird little stuff.

How do I find them?

UPDATE. Got to HD right after they opened and used their computer to locate the openers- says there are none in stock. Floor walker says there are none.

When I looked it up on their computer it said there were two in stock at the store about ten miles up the road, so I drove up there. Using their computer it said there were three in stock. I noted where they were located, went there, and couldn't find them. I walked a couple aisles over where the garage door openers are and there were three just sitting on the floor in front of the display.

I hefted two up to the register and the clerk thought the price was mis-marked. I told her they were on sale so she rang them up. I showed my mil ID and she said they didn't stack the discounts. I thought that was odd since I've never had that problem before, so asked if she could check. She called a manager who said she's could do it "this one time only" so out the door I got two for $97.12 each.

It matters, but it doesn't. Just wear a mask, use order pickup when you can, and don't bring kids through the store if you don't have too.

I was at Lowes and Home Depot this morning. They both open at 8AM, I was at Lowes at 8 to warranty my garden fork, then around 8:30ish at HD. Lowes has a sign in the front door requiring mask, HD did not have a sign (currently mask is mandatory in KY for the next 30 days). As I walked out of HD, I saw this guy entering the store without mask. Not sure if someone at the front door would say anything to him. I thought about going back to the store just to find out, but I was carrying a 12 ft moulding so I can not just quickly turn around back into the store

+1 for ordering online and local pick-up if possible (even better if qualify for free shipping straight to home). If I have to go to any store, I wear mask, go very early in the morning to avoid crowds, and do not bring my kid with me.

While touching any surface is risky, I don't really see much danger at HD or Lowe's, except maybe mid-day on weekends when it's usually stupid busy.
Wear a mask, minimize what you touch, and stay away from people.

Bars, nightclubs and amusement parks (rides) are a whole different animal.
