I need some rotors.....couldn't find what I wanted today.

What processes are you using to make them?

This bike is coming together. Waiting for dropper post to come in and next proto rotors to come from laser shop. Also need to lower the fork and redo the brake lines.

20210901_165448~2.jpg

Some big boy brakes

20210901_165519.jpg

Just picked up this ohlins rear shock. Just a mockup here

20210901_165354.jpg

It is a larger size then the frame is meant for so I made these Offset bushings that reduce the eye to eye from 200 down to 193.6. The frame is made for 190mm so it barely effects the geometry now and also increases the rear travel by 10% as the oem shock is a 50mm travel and this ohlins is 55mm. So the rear travel gets a boost from 115mm to 127mm, that will pair nicely with the fork once I reduce it to 130 or 140mm

pistols are getting closer

20210916_170002~2.jpg

also refreshed my Corbeau seats. they were looking pretty bad with how sunfaded they were and backs were pretty scractched.

20210910_120445~2.jpg

So I redyed the fabric and painted the shells silver

20210912_151456.jpg

20210912_151512~2.jpg

Also designed some new brackets specifically for my car for it to bolt right in.

Screen Shot 2021-09-12 at 6.06.48 PM.png

They got laser cut out and are in route to me. I also got a cool 90s style decal design with my logo made for the back of the seats.

I had my first track day last week with my gti. Don't have any pics from it, but it was one of the most fun days of my life. Im so hooked now. I ordered some new tires and am hoping they come in here in the next week or 2 so can try to get into a track day at gingerman raceway next month.

it was a guy I work with in a large sprinter van. All is good, he got a new door ordered same day and should be here today or tomorrow. Only the door was hit and no one was hurt so no biggie.

20210924_131519.jpg

Check out this baller new pipe. Hand made in italy. Its work of art.

Finally was able to get the dirtbike out and man I forgot how much I loved moto. I grew up riding moto, my dad used to race enduro in the 80s/90s and was pretty fast. Growing up I always had a bike till about 15 when I started mountain biking because all the moto trails were a few hours away and rarely got to ride. Now there is quite a bit an hour or less from my house. My dad also recently picked up a 18' 250 Sxf. He decided for my first time on a bike in 10 years I should do my first ever enduro.

20210926_131729~2.jpg

Somehow got 6th place in mens 16-39. Actually found out after I would have gotten first if I didnt come in early too 2 checkpoints. One I was only 3 seconds early and the other 11 seconds. It was time keeper format and those 2 mistakes cost me 10 of my total 22 points. Overall was there to have fun and it was a riot. The first section was some pretty tight and techincal stuff, it had rained the night before and was pretty gnarly as first ride in 10 years. Im sure it would have been hilarious wathcing me get tossed around by the bike but by the end of the day felt alot more comfortable and so excited to be spending way more time twisting the throttle away.

Put new graphics on the bike as you can see in that second pic

20210926_173132.jpg

New seat cover aswell and also drilled some holes in the airbox side panel to give it some more air, put some mesh behind it to keep most **** out.

Excited to make some cool parts for this now.

What are some of the local riding areas out there? My fiancee is in Rochester Hills so I'll probably be moving out there next year after the school year ends (I'm a high school teacher). Got pretty close to selling my 350sx-f, but I really want to keep it hah

im over close to Grand Rapids so everything I know is on the other side of the state from you. There are some trails in Muskegon area but Baldwin and white cloud area have alot of trails. Traverse City has a ton aswell. If you like really tight technical stuff there is plenty there for you. If you like the dunes Silver lake sand dunes will be your place. Really the farther north you go the more trails there is and the better they get. The UP has some awesome riding too

I'd stopped getting notifications on your thread and stumbled across it today, I really like what you are doing and will be following closer again. If you start to produce the skeletal AR's let me know, I'd be interested in one...or two.

Will do!

I will actually be down in north carolina next month to help set these up for production for another company. Been working on the design with them for a couple months.

Well got some goodies in for the 150

20211008_130358.jpg

shes purdy and rides amazing!

20211008_133002.jpg

Got a hitch on the gti aswell. The hitch fits like **** and I cant even get all the bolts in. My trailer tongue weight with a bike is only about 50lbs so its fine but I will be fixing it. My buddy is gonna cut it up and we are gonna move the receiver way up so its hidden behind the license plate and then when I want to tow I can just pop the license plate off and the receiver will be there.

IMG_20211010_185250_984.jpg

I have a higher rise reciever coming in for the time being though. My gti has a tow rating of 3500lbs so it towed this dinky think like it was nothing. My dad gave me this trailer. Overall in good shape but when Im done with this thing its gonna be pimp! Got some cool ideas for it. To start it off the whole thing needed to be rewired and new lights.

I put a hidden hitch in my S10 that came out behind the plate and used a fold down license plate frame so I wouldn't have to remove the plate to tow. Had it for 2 years like that and only used it once tough. haha

fold down is a good idea!

I was thinking of making an aluminum peice to slide in the reciver and just use the pin to hold it in so I wouldnt have to unbolt it but the fold down has me thinking otherwise now

Im feeling like this thread would really fit better in the garage gallery section, Not sure if I should start a new thread there or just keep on in here. Havent been fabricating much lol. Hopefully that will change soon but for now heres more goodies.

Ohlins TTX22 cartidges came in and are oh so purdy.

20211012_114704.jpg

Got them installed last week and took them on their maiden voyage friday. Was able to leave work early and head up north for a little solo ride. The bike feels insanely better now with ohlins front and rear. Its definitely is more supple but overall the bike feels so much more controlable and predictable. Before I could hit a little root well ripping through whoops and the whole front end would dart to the side and about buck me over. Even trying to go over a log would get sketchy. Now all that is cake.

I gotta say after not riding a dirt bike for close to 10 years, nailing a whoops section perfectly, keeping the front wheel up and pinned through 3rd gear gives you a feeling its hard to beat on a bicycle. I called my dad after riding and told him Im upset at him for letting me spend so much time and money on mountain bikes before convincing me to get back into motorcycles. :ROFLMAO:

I actually started selling off a lot of my mtb stuff. Im gonna keep my Downhill bike but pretty much getting rid of everything else. I've gotten so bored with my local trails and I much rather get out and ride the ktm if I have the chance. But not buiding bicycles is making me want to build some more motorcyles. I cant stop looking at adventure/rally bikes...

20211015_143352~2.jpg

Got another ride in saturday with my dad and brother in law, who just picked up a 98' Yz125 as his first ever dirtbike. We took him to a simple single track for his first time. We made some mistakes and weren't very prepared for riding a new trail for the first time. Basically his shifter broke about 4 miles in, My dad was up front so he kept going as he didn't know we stopped. I told my buddy to turn around and and head back and ill go get my dad. Well with a fork in the trail and somehow perfect timing we missed each other and I proceeded to ride about 25 miles by myself trying to find him, In an area I dont know at all. Its starting to get dark, I can't get cell service and I'm almost out of gas. After finding a very helpful SXS group who gave me some gas and simple directions I was able to make it back. My father as well. At the time I was about to ring him out because I thought he just kept going without stopping but that wasn't the case. Still mistakes were made, we should have planned a little better but everyone made it back so all is good. I did have a nice crash, there was a really fast flowy section and I was in a really good groove. Felt great and was just ripping. Came around a wide right hander in the top of 3rd, as I come around and can see whats next there was a tree that fell over. The problem was it was being held up by another tree and was hanging across the trail at around chest height with no easy way to go around. Ofcourse I panicked and grabbed a whole lot of front brake which is really never a good idea well your still turning and combined with the rain front the previous day caused the front end to just wash and me sliding right under the tree and smashing my knee into the frame. Long story short, as Im currently gimping around I remember that I need to buy knee pads before the next ride.

I've been there before, and good gear it worth its weight in gold, well at least in medical bills. I hit a jump wrong and landed hard on the front tire, over the handlebars and got busted up pretty good and hit my head hard. Broken nose, hyperextended finger, and a mild concussion, it could have been much worse though.

I think garage gallery would be a better fit for this one, may just ask a mod to move it for you.

I remember growing up my dad always told me don't cheap out on helmets. But really goes for any safety gear.
That sounds likes a gnarly crash! glad it wasn't worse.

Ah thats a good idea, ill see if I can do that!

Something thats been on my mind for awhile is trying to focus a little more on a main "hobby" and be less scattered. I've realised motocyles is really what I want to do. I had my first 50cc Suzuki when I was 4. I don't have any pics of it but it was identical to this, just in far worse shape :ROFLMAO:

img5341-1606148872970@2x.jpg

I had dirt bikes till I was 17, rode almost daily for most of that time at trails I built myself and with friends on our property. I phased into mountain bikes as it was just so much easier to go riding and it was cheaper. Well it was cheaper at first but that did not stay true for long. Volkswagens also became a large passion of mine. I by no means want to ditch my dubs but getting back onto a dirt bike has really ignited the passion and reminded me how much I loved it. Mabye its engrained in me as my dad used to race, I've gone to the Red Bud motocross almost every year of my life. And I mean a bicycle combined with a car is a motorcycle so its really my main passions combined.

I had one of the most fun days of my life at the track day with my car. I want to do more but at the same time I am very paranoid about not only crashing my car but also blowing it up. I've seen a handful of guys with identical cars blow them up at track days over the last couple months. I started building that r6 and It will be purposed built for the track and I think even more fun than the car.

I love building wild bicycles and the sky is the limit with motocycles, besides the dirt bike and track bike, I've drooled over cafe racers for a long time. An Adventure bike would be so much fun, I miss my old pitbike, who doesn't want a flat track bike?? I mean I can already feel my wallet getting lighter and the piles of parts stacking up :ROFLMAO:

Well step number one is I need space to work on these fun havers. As I have mentioned previously in this thread I only have a little shed and spacious is not the word anyone would use to describe it. Organized would also not be on that list.

20211018_183339.jpg

I organized a bit, threw some parts away, and took some to my inlaws shipping storage container. It still has lot of random stuff around I need to go thru. Mabye build some shelves and might move the boxes over to my inlaws as well. But it is an improvement!
20211018_195735.jpg

I can move either bike over to work on them easily.

Got some parts ready to go on and waiting for some to come in the mail for the ol 150.

20211018_195743.jpg

Put some of the R6 together. This is gonna be Priority #1 this winter. I must ride this next year!
Im very much into the matchy matchy stuff. I know many will prob not like it but when I strip the 150 down to have the frame done in orange I am going to send the r6 frame to also be done in orange and then I want to do some similar graphics on it aswell. I have some plans for other 2 wheel vehicles I already have to fit in with this theme.

20211018_195749.jpg

The other good news is my inlaws are building a pole barn in the spring and I will have space in there for a CNC mill or 2 and a little workshop so I wont be confined to this shed for long. Although I think they under estimate how much space I can take up. I have so many tools and parts at work, my dads, few buddies places waiting till I had my own work space.

If I am going to have some tricked out bikes I gotta haul them in style. You dont have to lie to me and tell me this trailer looks good. Its bad, I know. But I promise we will make this baby nice.

20211018_183112.jpg

ain't that a purdy tow rig back there

20211018_183129.jpg

New decking is high priority but its not on the top of the list. Somone, not pointing the finger at anyone *cough* my dad *cough* didnt pit the little pin on the tilt pin to keep it in place and it felt out on our way home saturday. That resulted in me looking in the rear view mirror and see sparks shooting out. We took a ratchet strap and tied it up and made it home safe. No bikes were harmed, the trailer is okay and my fresh wiring job is still intact.

What I want to do is make an auto latching pin. One annoying problem is when you are loading by yourself you have to push the bike up and get the trailer to tilt down and then be very careful not to step back well your trying to strap it in or it will tilt back.

I ordered a set of these bad boys

517kLfVFgiL._AC_SL1000_.jpg

My idea is to mount the on the tilting section and modify the main tube to have a little ramp so when it tilts down it will compress the spring and then the pin will pop into place.

If I decide to go full on pimp my ride them I would like to add some storage to this. I found these electrical enclosure. They come in many different sizes, are waterproof, galvanized, heavy duty, and lockable. It would be sweet to find some that aren't very tall but are wide and mount one on each side to store tools and gear. You can see this in my expert drawing. The cabinets would be the blue and the red would be some aluminum side panels to give the trailer a little flair. Could make some cool graphics or something for them.

20211018_183141~2.jpg

I just picked up these pretty sweet straps. The caribeaners at the end have locks and are hardened steel so cant be cut quite as easily. There is also a steel cable through the whole strap. Little extra peace of mind.

Pistols are getting very close to shooting its first rounds. Its been a lot of trial and error getting internal geometry perfect. It now racks like butter and everything seems to be good. Have some small tweaks and last few things to do and hopefully we can put some rounds through it!

20211020_084711.jpg

Also have a small company I have been doing some cad work for and am heading down to north carolina tomorrow to set the parts up for production this weekend. Ill be posting some updates of that this weekend.

Might I suggest that you add a piece of angle iron on top of the "Tongue" like a "roof" to create your ramp [poorly drawn in "Baby Blue"] and with an extension [Orange] and a mount for your spring loaded latch pin [Purple(ish)] this will all be much easier than cutting a ramp into the tongue, I feel. Just an idea for your consideration Harry

It's wild seeing this project that I have hundreds of hours in come together. If staying on track it should be shooting its first rounds tomorrow. We test coated one of the prototypes to see how it would look. Ill be damned it looks like a real gun now.

Also have some trick moto parts in the works, gonna be getting back on track with all the r6 stuff here asap

Last week I got some pretty trick parts from Luxon MX. I picked up their rocker and linkage for my bike. The rocker is suppose to make the initial stroke more supple and then add in a little more ramp up through the stroke. The linkage has different inserts to change the eye-to-eye length which effects the seat height. I used the longest inserts to drop the bike as much as I can. It might sound like its a lot but I believe its only like 5-10mm. Something I probably won't even notice, I just want to be able to touch the ground a tiny bit better. Im 5'10" so not really vertically challenged but also not close to being tall. We are heading up north this weekend and wanted to get them installed before hand.

Ignore how nasty my bike is. I need to clean is so bad, just haven't had time. Any free time i've had is when its already dark outside.

Here is the Luxon rocker vs OEM

20211027_191220.jpg

Linkage and rocker all installed

20211027_193441.jpg

I pulled the gas tank and shrouds as I picked up a larger tank from an XC model and the guy through in some factory edition shrouds for an extra $25. They should be here friday so I got it all ready so I can throw the new stuff on right when it arrives.

20211027_190306.jpg

You can see I also removed the ignition cover.

20211027_185824.jpg

I figured I would start the custom parts off for this bike with a billet cover. My design is nothing fancy but little more peace of mind over the oem plastic one.

Screen Shot 2021-10-27 at 9.02.25 PM.png

I will do a test of the bolt pattern to make sure its all correct, based on my measurements it should be right, but I have made mistakes in the past and I fully expect to keep making them. I found a cut off that is the right size, just waiting to get a price back on it. Once I get material in I can get it ordered. I don't plan on making many parts for the KTM right now. I want to focus on R6 stuff but this will be a nice warmup for the R6 engine covers which are more complicated. I've mention before the whole goal with the R6's is to look at every part on the bike and see how we can improve it. Me and my buddy joke we are making our own Factory bikes. The goal is to hopefully build our skills and develop some really cool parts that mabye we can sell a few off one day. Down the road when the R6 is "finished" I want to do the same with this KTM and make it my own "Factory edition". What is more likely is Ill make parts for it here and there between R6 stuff. This winter when I take the 150 down to the frame I will make a few little bits for it.
