Here's a addition to the shop I forgot to post. I picked up a Delta 15" drill press for a school auction. It's a three phase motor, which I wanted so I can fix it up with a VFD inverter. I'd like to st up with a foot control for threading later on.

Hooking a VFD I have for my lathe.

I guess they don't teach shop equipment maintenance in the school shops. The variable sprees pulleys were not moving, just a little oil fixed it right up.

nice, those school auctions are treasure troves, I got my welder that way too. great thing was I was taking a welding class and saw a bunch of welders sitting out and asked about the one I liked and the welding instructor said it had less than 100hrs on it. Took about 3 months of watching but it popped up and since I had the background info I had no qualms about bidding it up a little.

My son found me these 8" casters at a surplus place. These things are hefty. I'm planning to build a small table so I can roll work in/ out of shop.

Casters still have tread on them, got a few miles to go.

LMAO with the paint tin comment. Sorry G.

GB

I was thinking the same thing about the tread GB. He should probably store them in a paint box for safe keeping. Of course 8" probably is too much ground clearance for G anyway.

Nice addition you have there Craig. Don't let G near it cause he'd probably cut the stand in half.:dunno:

Nope, those days are done. I hated cutting that one too.

It'll be safe, I have a can of paint sitting on it.:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

I already tried to get a set from him. He's not getting them up.

One of these days I'll embrace the whole "painting" deal. I'm not sure well that will be but the announcement is gonna break the internet.

Not much to update, just had a opportunity to use my CM cabinet table saw for the first time.

Ripped two fence pickets to make one wide one to finish off a fence on the dog pen.

I like doing this rather than a skinny piece that always seems to fall apart down the road.

Now I just need to find the fence that came with the saw. Pretty bad hun?

Stored all the casters I picked up recently until I get to the projects where I'm using them. They are safely located in the locking cabinet, just below the paint drawer.

I have been derelict in stopping by to see what was happening in the shop so I wanted to drop in..... . I appreciate the comments on the build. I am hoping to be able to move into my shop and tinker at the end of September if all goes well.

Craig, I thought you had removed them from your cabinets to keep G from moving them around your shop?:headscrat

We hung around for the storm. No damage except couple sections of fence. Lots of trees over though and 4" water in shop. I'm not complaining too much, others have it a lot worse. Just a big pain in the ***.

Glad you came out OK. I haven't seen my place yet. Phone reports from friends are encouraging though. Landlord called to let me know the shop roof didn't come off. LOL. But I know there has been a leak for about a year. Hopefully all good.

Bevis, thanks for stopping by. Glad to see someone in my neck of the woods.

You are not alone..... I've been lurking around the forum for about a year or so.

Just in awe of most everyone's garages. Still trying to get mine more organized.

Here's some pics of my sons 10 kW military surplus generator.
This unit is sweet.

I made up a cord for the propane 10 k years ago with a 50 amp twist lock that's right below my shop panel. I had to cut off the plug so I could terminate right into the gens lugs.

We turned on everything in the beginning except AC, including the 5500 watt water heater and it was at 60%.
Got a good nights sleep not having to worry about cycling pumps and stuff.

Heres a pine tree I'll need to deal with.

Maybe I'll just leave it, build a brace for it and call my place "leaning tree ranch "

Craig: Glad to see you rode the storm out and fared okay. Having a generator that can power your HWH is a great thing. Hot water is a good thing.

I am really impressed with your garage door bracing! I used a 2x4 with my car backed against it. Plus I parked my SUV across the door. Seemed to hold up ok.

That generator brings back some memories of when I ran them in the Army. Amazing what you can run on a 10kw generator

Man, been a while since I've been to my own thread. It's just been stupid crazy for me, between getting ready for the hurricane, cleaning up after the hurricane, sold moms house and had to get the last of stuff out of that garage, the front of my shop was totaled with stuff.

Anyway, here's an addition to my fleet and this will turn into a future project.
8923b23eca3fb724c65a7afb5599f5ff.jpg

Been looking for a golf cart to beat around the property with and to take to the Flywheelers when we go. After researching the different brands, I settled on a Club Car because they had an aluminum frame and a grounds maintenance line of cars that I liked. I picked this up at a auction, when I went by to look over what they had, I found this carryall 272 that I never run across before. It comes with the flatter wheels and tires from the factory and the higher ride height. I didn't even look at the others after finding this.

It's equipped with a dump bed, hydraulic brakes and a locking rear end. Just about the entire frame and body is aluminum. I had to change out the voltage regulator and a new battery. I now know where all the Dodge and Ford terminated engineers go, to club car!

Also picked up this sweet little CM drill press. It's little, but as heavy as a floor model. Good thing I'm done having kids, as I believe I left any siblings at the house where I loaded this up.

It's a early 1940s model. I have a CM motor that I'll put on someday.

I'll try to keep this thread current.

What! You can't park that in the horse house.

I like the long C logo cast into top piece. Nice find.

That club car looks like it will be very handy!

It will be Strouty, it still needs some tuning, but using out in pasture already. This thing is stout, aluminum I beam frame. I'll post some more pics tomorrow.

I look forward to it! I am going to end up with something like that eventually. I used to have a Polaris 6x6 with a powered dump body, it was great, except it would tear up the ground a lot.

Hey Strouty, here's some more pics of the cart. I couldn't believe how sturdy these are built. And almost all aluminum.

The drain train works off a double variable clutch. I'll be renewing the wear parts in one and will have some machine work done on the other that will allow it to have a bigger OD for the belt.

Doings at Cbacres. Been working on house getting ready to be painted....... By my wife. Yep, just need to get most of prep done.
Main thing was repairing the precast window sills, they had cracked from water getting inside and rusting the reinforcing steel.
dfdc8a96e4411a0faa3bb6b9075e3ef7.jpg
So I decided to use epoxy to reset all of the pieces, with a tapcon in each. I cut the steel out, fitted all the chunks, predrilled holes in the chunks and started gluing.

15757fc715b481e454d87881707da7e9.jpg

I let the epoxy ooze out of the cracks and stay high, I ground flush the next day when it hardened. The big holes I filled when the high strength crack repair cement and ground it flush. Then I went around with some more epoxy and filled in the minor spots and ground smooth.
I have more pictures on my cell I'll post up. Must of been ok, wife primered them.

The club car does look rugged, having it made of aluminum should help it float when it gets muddy. I have seen the kubota diesel side by sides get mired due to the fact that they weigh as much as a small car.

That repair on the window frame looks like it will work well, good thing you had most of the big pieces still.

The other house project was replacing all the soffit vent around the whole house. I put in hardware cloth, screen and capped with trim.

OK, enough of house work.

Finally started to paint some of the Vidmars/Listas I've bought over the last year or so. The first one is the 60" wide I bought last Thanksgiving ( yes, I'm getting one painted in less than a year of buying) . I knew it was a little rough whe I bought, but the rust under the paint was worse than I thought, oh well, just some extra time to prep.
Box before.

The drawer frames needed some tweaking so they weren't hitting the drawer below, got to get just right so they clear the drawer below and above, as everything moves.
