Got mine yesterday. Still sorting it. Got all SAE sockets so far. Yes should have been 6 bags in the box. There are a couple sockets with small chrome chips. One so far with the stamp/etching upside down, and one with it missing. Nothing I plan to send them back or ask for more over since they are functional. Hopefully all of mine will be there.

The packing really ***** and it is a bear to sort through. That said for the price you cant really complain I am happy with them. No regrets.

Yes, they are going to ship me a new set. However, they are going to require me to return the incomplete set to a store (why not a UPS return label?) and for the new set they are going to charge me the full price, credit back the difference between the full price and the sale price, credit separately my SWY points, and I'm going to have to wait for the store to process my return.

You're fawked!

I went through the same thing with a Professional wrench set in the spring. It took a month and 7 calls to Sears to fix it - two of which were to a special "executive" resolution center. I was one day away from contesting the charge on my credit card when the refund finally came through. Jerks.

I have the 44" HF Box that everyone seems to have. I took measurements on the top drawer today: 36.75" X 16.00". They're modifying it to fit those dimensions, so hopefully I can post up pic next week. Still sorting mine out otherwise.

Awesome! Can't wait for the pics!

This is a great deal, not tool truck bling factor, but it's nice to walk in and do adv exchange. And then after take a vacation to the Bahamas and still come out ahead vs snap on.

Regarding the foam organizer, I'd love a version with the deep sockets laying flat so that it didn't need a 4" deep drawer.

I got mine pretty organized with the $3 Lowes socket trays for a grand total of $12.

I have a few extra sets I bought just in case if anybody around the Atlanta area needs them. Free, of course.

How is the "feel" of using the foam tray? Not too snug? Look like it will hold up?

Feels good now; time will tell. Most fit nice and snug but not too tight. A few have a bit more room. I think it will do fine--I just wish it had the sizes stamped on the foam in white. I tried to rotate the laser etch to where you could see the size but in many cases you can't. Also the laser etching isn't the brightest when new.

Just finished putting together my set. Missing a socket, 2 missing laser etching, and a few with very faint etching.

I don't think white numbers are necessary. After a while you should be able to go straight to the size you need, by memorizing.

Looks great, I kinda wish there was some red accent visible when all of the sockets were installed.

Anyone know how long it takes to get a pick-up email from Sears? My set was delivered to the store yesterday but I haven't got anything yet.

If the tracking says it is in the store call them and see if they can check it in for you.

I received my set 7/9/2014 and inventoried it on Friday, I ended up having three sockets without etching, one missing, and one duplicate. A "quick" (36 minutes) call to the number on the item list sheet included in the box and the rep said she would have the replacements shipped. I forgot to ask her what I should do with the non-etched sockets and the duplicate, what did you guys do with any extras?

As a slightly off topic note I also ordered the 43 piece Craftsman combination wrench set, surprisingly they all had "Forged in U.S.A" stamped into them though I would say the quality is not as good as they used to be being that I could easily slice open a finger on some of the edges around the open end parts.
Ordered and due to arrive 7/16/2014 are the 3 piece high polish ratchet set, 41 piece screwdriver set, and 21 piece ratchet/socket accessory set. I ordered these based on reviewers as late as April 2014 claiming to have received "Made in U.S.A." items. If anyone is interested I will verify their COO in this thread or another more appropriate thread if given a link.

Andrew M.

(P.S. As this is my first post I should probably include in it, like many others do, that I really like this board! There is a lot of ideas and inspiration to be gleaned from the many posts here and I hope that before the end of the year I will be able to start sharing a garage build/rebuild with others.)

I ended up having all the sockets, minus a deep wall 18mm got a duplicate 15mm instead. Few minor issues with a couple sockets nothing I am too worried about. Overall good deal hope they work it out for guys that had issues.

Everyone loves USA made craftsman because the quality but why does it seem like no one gets a complete set or some that missed or upside down etchings?

Yes I see what you mean kneeman. I had one with upside down stamping/etching and a few with minor chips and rusting. No question their packaging and quality control is lacking.

The quality actually ***** to be honest. People buy them becuase they have a long tradition in the USA and they are easily replaced by Sears. I bought a Craftsman made in USA set a few weeks ago and I was incredibly dissapointed in the quality; easily the worst of the USA made tool lines.

Mine from 1998 are still great.

Mine from 92 are 10 times the quality of this set. BUT, bang for the buck of this set with a lifetime warranty cannot be beat.

I would buy this set again.

I bought the 308 piece set (299 sockets and 9 extensions) when they were offering that earlier this year. My set was complete with no errors. I put them all on snap-on metal rails as they are cheap and easy to add more clips. Quality seems to be good, there are some sockets from different production lines. I have to say my sockets from circa 1999 are probably better quality but this deal was good. I have 3 almost complete sets of them now, so I don't think i'll have a problem finding a replacement. Most chromies I use are 1/4 inch drive anyways.

I received my set yesterday and, upon opening, experienced many of the same problems that have been mentioned on this thread (rusting, chrome flaking off, etc.). I ordered the foam fit tools organizer designed to fit this set at the same time and never even opened the box that it came in. If someone wants it, I'll let it go, unopened, for $75 shipped.

Great forum BTW. An amazing amount of useful information.

I purchased this set recently. Why, well the price was good and finding USA stamped Craftsman sockets is getting tricky to find.

Just before purchasing this set I thought I would visit my local Sears which I have not been to in over a year. It was one pathetic sight. Empty shelves, disorganized items, uninformed employees and the only tool related items that were getting any promotional attention was the made in China gimmicky stuff. So sad. It really left me feeling sad for the future of Sears and Craftsman.

All said it was completely disappointing. Im pretty sure I will never step foot into another Sears.

Oh, and the kicker. I had to go through the online chat service to get the "30off300" deal applied to my order. The guy helping me must have accidentally applied 30% off my total.

All said and done, 299 pc set for $232.83 shipped. Ugh, just utter failing on all aspects.
