Really looking good. I've always wanted to do some upholstery, it seems I run across projects fairly often where that skill would come in handy. I'm assuming nine4gmc that's what you plan on using that machine for right?

1954 Chevy 210 . chopped 4 1/2 inches top painted candy metal flake green . 1968 327 bored 30 over 10.5 -1 comp with big cam, th400 ******, late model S10 rear end with 3:0 gears on C10 trailing arms, mustang II front suspension with all tubular controlled arms and wilwood brakes, full air ride ,with accuair e-level, 64 t-bird interior sitting inside.

Plan is to get the door glass sorted out first.. Then.. Wipers, proper remote setup for doors and trunk.. Basics to make it an actual "driver".

it will get a full interior. Body wise, French headlights, taillights and antenna. And paint.

It's a great start!

The other chopped project. '69 Datsun 521 pickup. Bought it with the custom body work done. Hoping to get it mocked up and driving over the winter..

I have a few days off work.. Working on the shop. Got the indoor and outdoor units of the second 2-ton mini-split system mounted. This will heat/cool bays 4-6. First system does a great job for bays 1-3.

Awesome rides, love them both. Is that a 80/81 Datsun in the background of the 69 Datsun pic?

I knew it was close by the taillight and tailgate latch but it's been years since I seen one. My first ride was an 81 king cab 4x4, I drove the wheels off of it. Never forget one school night my neighbor/friend and I decided to go muddin and sunk it to the frame, we had to walk several miles home then ride the bus to school the next morning. Another buddy owned an 83 sunk his to the frame trying to pull me out that evening, had to have his dad pull both of us out with his f350 dually 4x. It was an adventure.

Been organizing, putting stuff away, unpacking remaining boxes from moving in and clearing these benches so I can rip it all out to the wall behind. This takes up a third of this part of the shop. Lots still to do.

A good friend is finishing the mini-split lineset and evacuating the unit. Excited to have it running.

Worked on disassembling the hallway monstrosity. It's a ton of nails to pull, but it's coming along nicely.

Continuing the demo/disassembly of the "hallway" / bench. It was occupying 8' X 33' of floor space and providing almost no value. Add to that the way it was made was rather silly.

I'll reuse the salvageable materials. I'm hoping to turn this into a pile of nail-free (ish) lumber before the day is over.

Then, I'll start building the main shop workbench along that wall. With lots of storage.

I have a friend that lives up there, he has a 64 Galaxie he's going to build. Works at the dam as a hydro mechanic.

@motofool33 - I will be painting the same style pallet racking you are working on. I'm just going to scuff and paint though. Yours looks great!

Nice shop! Got any more pics of the alarm panels/wiring?

I don't have any more, yet. Need to run a ton of conduit..

I'm using a gloss tractor paint. I have used it on other projects and it worked well. Hoping for similar results.

Upholstery shop (bays 5 & 6) workbench is coming along. It's made entirely of material from the hallway I removed. Used the Festool track saw to clean up each edge of the top before screwing it down. Then joined two tracks to cut the front edge in one shot.
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1448231741.350666.jpg

Hit it with a sander to clean things up.
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1448231771.868313.jpg

And rounded the corners with a slick corner jig I got from Wood Peckers.
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1448231808.473097.jpg

The bench and surrounding area work is prep for painting this room. It will all get primed and painted. Then I'll use a contrasting color on the bench, etc. hoping to paint next weekend.

I like the rounded corners. I'm thinking about the old square corner on my new bench.

I dig the square corner! I haven't seen that one before. Very cool.

Just primed the bench top with this tractor paint. It's pretty low cost, and I've had good luck with it.

Made some progress. Insulated and closed over the old window opening, around the a/c unit. Stubbed in a couple boxes for additional receptacles so I could mount the pegboard over the conduit.

This is how I hang pegboard.. Rip strips of 3/4" plywood a touch narrower than 3/4" wide.
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1448765696.693783.jpg

Evenly space the strips across the sheet to be mounted. Drill holes through the pegboard and backing strip and start a screw into the hole. The strips go between rows of holes.
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1448765773.482448.jpg

Then hang and drive the screws the rest of the way.
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1448765797.486132.jpg

This method leaves all holes open for pegs and spaces off the wall plenty far enough for hooks. It works great!
