Spn1025, just wanted to know if it would be ok to add your signature to the first post. I want to try to make it easier for the people who are seeing these deals for the first time and don't know how everything works. If anyone else has any new info to add about clearance items let me know and I will add it to the first post. Thanks

Just like last year at this time Home Depot is starting to clearance the Ryobi 2 pack of 4Ah batteries for $84. This price is in store only. the website still reflects the $99 price. Keep an eye on this one because I believe it went down to $25.02 pretty quick last year.

My buddy that works in tools informed me that they got down to $12 last year when the last 2 sets were sold.

On a side note, what ratchet is that in your avatar?

Unfortunately I don't know what ratchet this is. I came across it when looking for gear picks online.

Lucky person who got them for $12 bucks.

So I decided to make my first trip. I took about 2-3hours going through almost every isle and two trips to the pro desk to use the computer to check and look up skus and prices. My local HD doesn't have a customer computer hidden away elsewhere, but I pretty much stood there looking up everything I could without a single employee bugging me.

I really really wanted to get some cans of WD40, being 26 years old and a mechanical engineer that builds Battlebots and other random things, it would have been too useful to stock up. I sadly could not find the 1cent cans anywhere... I would have even paid a dollar for them.

I tried to find the 25' soaker hose, couldn't find it. I tried to find the hose reel, only found the following model:
VTzmH6x.jpg

Looked through the garage door openers, the trimmers, the chainsaws, the smart lighting switches.... I was coming up dry. At least I was getting an even better understanding of the store layout in ways I wouldn't normally think about.

Saw some duct tape that didn't seem like a good price, but I took a picture anyway:
RTrj4xt.jpg

Found a bunch of husky cabinet/garage storage kind of stuff in the back of the store on clearance that I am eager to watch:
Ai9uhM9.jpg

uy6NBK7.jpg

sbCgNjs.jpg

As well as some wall mounted storage track system stuff:
6h1LLPv.jpg

CoCe8uI.jpg

Seems like they are making room for another variant to replace it, I saw it but forgot the brand name already.

This brings me to what I did end up finding...
My mom is a float supervisor/director type person for the Rose Parade floats. She actually just told me about losing a pair of flower pruner/cutters, so I went after the Corona Veggie cutters. I read about some people not even seeing the brand in their stores as the fiskars are taking over (saw that happening as well), but luckily I found a Corona cabinet of products outside in the garden department.

Alas, no veggie 1cent cutters... There were, however, two pair of Floral snips and a razor tooth pruning saw. My father loves to use a similar saw for breaking down small branches for disposal. I grabbed these even though they had a standard white tag label and took them up to the computer to check their prices. Low and behold, they had clearance prices!

The saw was $5.03 (normally just under $20):
CyHITWj.jpg

WCeXGzH.jpg

The two pair of floral snips were $4.03 each (normally about $11-12):
WBOJ3id.jpg

H39XI4M.jpg

My mother and father were very happy to receive these so I felt like my efforts paid off. I also got an extra pair of Floral snips and a pair of the elusive veggie cutters for free because there was a pair of each without any box totally trashed (dirty/rusty) and the garden lady told me to take them.

In fact, one of the floral snips has some light surface rust on them in the box... Some steel wool, oil, and maybe a touch up on a stone should bring all these cutters up to par.

I found one more item in the Garden area:
GYW9nhl.jpg

f60hnKK.jpg

AIJhtO7.jpg

These had the tell tale signs of clearance for way too long. The tags were really weather aged and faded. I grabbed two of the three pair and took them to the computer with the snips I had obtained. The gloves didn't show up in the computer price check. I thought that was odd and wanted to take the chance and bring them up to the self check-out with my other items (Which I think is generally a good idea, to buy other items at more understandable prices and slip the 00.01 items in near the end. You can always return whatever else you buy if you really want to).

BOOM, my first penny deal on my first time with this knowledge:
tB9AhaT.jpg

So, I dropped my bags off in my car and wanted to see how the store would handle the following situation. I grabbed the last pair (and made sure I actually had a penny on me as I don't normally carry change). Went up to the garden checkout to confront the dreaded human interaction. It was poor timing as the previous garden lady was super backed up on tons of little plants of some other lady and garden lady called in assistance twice, apparently. A young male rang me up, but a manager-esque mid-aged lady had came to check-up on the situation with the garden department getting backed up.

Gloves scanned as 0.01 - young male goes "oh, it rang up as 0.01" and turned and asked manager-esque mid-aged lady about it. She pulled out some little notebook with handwritten notes and seemingly came up with some arbitrary price of $5 without directly talking to me. I kinda of questioned this price and the fact that it came up as 0.01 and it should be sold at that price with a corporate policy line tossed in there, but she wouldn't really have that and said something along the lines of, "It's not corporate policy, these gloves normally cost $10 and I will give you the price of $5." I turned down the gloves after asking to take a picture of both sides of the label but forgot to ask for her name if I ever care to send an email about it later (doubt it).

It wouldn't bug me so bad if it didn't seem like she had some random scribblings and kind of came up with the price of $5. The time it took for him to read the sku to this lady to find some random number in her book and assign a price seemed like a terrible act to me and has bugged me since. If it was some price scan type sheet that was typed I wouldn't have questioned this exchange or action so much. Oh well, I can't believe I got my first penny deal even if it was for some chinese made gloves.

I shall watch this for updates and might check-in with the two closest stores. One is newer and might not have old stock type things anyway, the other generally has way more items than my local store and might be perfect condition for penny deals. This is all in Southern California.

Pennies, manager tried to block the sale of some of the tile blades and told me he would "let me slide" but he's not going to sell them to me. I was like, let me slide for what? I told him I paid and I'm taking them, and he didn't like it but they gave them back.

I showed this thread to my gf, and asked her to come with and ride in the cart for good luck lol. She wouldn't ride in the cart, but she did take to it pretty quickly. I couldn't get her out of the damn garden center.

Were the Schlage door locks a penny???

I'm sorry those were final clearance. Not a penny. Yet... $50.03. I should have clarified. Everything else was a penny.

Skus are in the 2015 thread,

690489 - silver
690621 - bronze
690687 - silver older style

Is this on clearance or not? It says active, but shows up yellow and ends in .03. It shows up when I filter for clearance. It's not really a discount, but will be on penny status. HD.com has it at $30.97.
Unfortunately I haven't been doing searches for Lincoln so I don't know if this is clearance or not.

679549 - honestly the best way to find them is just go back to the tile saws and look on the bottom of the pile. Or behind the display, I found at least half of those in the back of the display.

I don't believe that to be a real clearance. It's just showing up as clearance tagged in the system, but not really a deal. I double checked with my old man who is a welder and he said it's not a great price. So I passed.

I realize the price isn't a deal, but I'm just wondering if it will be penny status soon or if that's just an error.

As far as the tile saw blades go, look for model numbers that are "CP". The new ones are either a different brand or "CJ". Got 3 of the 8" tonight for a penny each when all that has been talked about on here is the 7" and 10".

Is the Makita XT257M the combo kit that everyone was talking about in the $150 promo thread? One store has 3 at $190.

Didn't take long for the new model Homelite pressure washer to start closing out. At the 199.00 mark. Lots of bad reviews and no Honda engine anymore.

Im thinking about getting into the Ridgid 18v tool line. It looks like they started to clearance them out. How low will they go? Anyone have any experience with the battery lifetime warranty?

If you do it, make absolutely sure you register the tools/batteries immediately. When I registered my set (9+ years ago), there was no online registration....had to send in a postcard that was included in the kit and wait/pray/bug Ridgid until you got confirmation it was registered.

Now it seems to be a combo of online form and mailing in the receipt (unless they finally allow scans of the receipt to be emailed? dunno).

You have 90 days from the date of purchase to get it registered for lifetime service. And only batteries that you buy with a kit (i.e. with a tool included) are eligible for lifetime replacement.

As far as actually using the replacement process, I did it once. Brought the whole kit to my local HD with tool rental, showed them the batteries needed replacing. They were older (NiCD) so not in stock at the store. They had them drop shipped to me 2 weeks later. Really easy process, just seems that registering and finding a good service center is the hard part. Looks like they've turned the Home Depot tool rentals into official service centers, so you might be able to inquire about it all at your nearest store with tool rental.

...

just to agree - it is the best warranty you can get and even covers the batteries but they are counting on people not registering them in time or correctlyl. It is a bit of a hassle and you need to provide the serial number for each individual item in your multi-tool kits (chargers, batteries, tools). But, if you get it all done within 90 days you are covered. Also, batteries are only covered if bought as part of a set. Any individual batteries you buy do not carry the lifetime warranty.

I bought a (clearance) set because of the warranty even though I have a Dewalt set and I must say that the Ridgid are very nice tools. I still prefer the Dewalt, but the Ridgid are fine. FYI - I can't remember the last time I actually "bought" tools in the traditional sense, it just means a set or two that don't get sold.

The Black Friday combos are on sale now. 1/4" impact down from $100 to $80. The hammer drill + circ saw is now $150. Down from $200 I believe. All are the latest X5 models and brushless. I sold my Dewalt 18 volt impact on eBay and picked up one of the above. Tempted to do the same with my circ saw, but already have a hammer drill so I haven't yet pulled the trigger. Maybe at the next price drop.

The lifetime warranty is what pushed me to switch from Dewalt 18v. So happy I did as the tools + batteries are so much smaller and lighter.

The $79 Ridgid Impact Driver is NOT the latest brushless version. I picked it up to pair with brushless compact hammer drill and circular saw. I am very impressed even with the brushed impact driver.

Don't know why they are priced so low at the moment but I took advantage of it.

Nothing in North Conway NH. They showed a couple tile saw blades with stock at a penny but nowhere to be found. They have the Ridgid Jobmax impact driver head and drill head at $25 each. They also have the jigsaw head at $35 but out of stock, I need that one. I ended up buying the Jobmax 3 amp corded, down to $79 from $99 (not clearance) and the new rotary cutter head for $30.

They have the Echo 3 gallon deck sprayer on clearance at $30.06. Haven't seen that on clearance at any other store.
