I've been on the hunt for proper grommet "feet."

These worked perfectly (see my pics, on the previous page) but I cannot find them listed online based on the numbers. The company is Serv-a-lite or Servalite, the info is in the pics.
As well, there are. They're specifically made for motor mounting. The size is a bit different. The price is decent.

I placed an order March 25 and received it yesterday March 26. I had a 'coupon' for $5 because I left items in my shopping basket on March 24. I applied the $5 towards UPS expidited shipping.

This is the 1st order I've placed with them. I won't spend $$ on special shipping again, I'm in SE MI, they are in IL. UPS ground will be fast enough from here on out.

I want one of those cooling tray mounts. I don't need one but want one just because they're so cool.

You have any kicking around, TorqueMan???

They are a nice feature. I've seen them on the 3/4 & 1 HP Commercial grinders. The also hold the 'tool' rests. It is a 'base' that the grinder bolts to, and the 'base' then is mounted to a stand or bench; the base has it's own set of feet, but not like the one's for the grinder.

I am sorry to say, I don't have an extra to offer you.

BTW - I'm finally putting the finishing touches to the Go-Blue grinder. Yesterday, I added a fuse to the back. I'm headed out to the garage/shop to wire it up, install 8" wire wheels, label, and various pieces 'borrowed' from other donors.

I like ordering from Zoro, they have a great selection to choose from, they're quick to ship, and they take paypal so I don't have to drag out my wallet and type in all those damned numbers every time I want to place an order. The hardest thing for me is waiting to gather enough small items to make the shipping less than the order total. I had originally found them on ebay. It took me several separate purchases to realize I could bundle items by ordering direct from their website instead. :tard:

Just noticed the block I bought today is branded "Craftsman commercial". Does that mean it's one of the industrial rated ones? What's the difference between the industrial rated ones and the others?

"Commercial" or "Industrial" typically means the grinder is dual voltage - 115/230 VAC, ...

but, not always.

I think the dual voltage is only on the higher HP motors. Not sure where the cutoff is, I'll have to go look at my 1/2 HP Commercial when I get home.

Locally, most of the switches are 20A @ 125v, 10A @ 250V rather than 15A @ 125. I know it'll work but I thought I'd try to find the exact replacement first.

I converted the switch on this one since the other one died. I filled the rectangle hole by sandwiching two pieces of metal the same size of the on/off cover. Worked perfect.

Yea, I think, or would at least like to think there are other differences between the commercial and non versions besides voltage. One of these days I'll try to do a side by side comparison.

Your guess would probably be better than mine. I haven't taken them apart. Don't really want to, but am intrigued on the "commercial" selling point. If you look in the old catalogs, there was a pretty good price difference between the two.

and a 1/3 HP "Industrial rated" single voltage 115V (Silver label, Jan 20, 1966)

They're in the selling business. Not uncouth at all, they can always say no. Take the lighthearted approach. That way if they don't want to sell it you haven't ticked them off and can still haggle with them over other things.

I haven't found a source for the framed shields yet. The all in one poly shields can be adapted from other labels if you can find one that fits your fancy.


OBTW - my order from zoro showed up this morning with the rubber grinder mounts. Mmmmmmmmmm - gotta love that new parts smell.

I think you're on the right track. The housings appear interchangeable. Perhaps, the guage of wires in the 'field' windngs, bearings, switch, other 'wear/consumable' parts? Do we have a volunteer to do a p/n compare between a 'Commercial' vs. 'non-Commercial' grinder of the same HP?

Look like the ereplacementparts does not have the eye shields for these block grinder.

They don't list all grinder models, but another model's shields may fit. See if you can come up with any shields, then post up the model number, I'll check to see if I have a match and measure them; then you can decide if the eParts piece will fit.

For me, simplicity is key. I'd think any new person would look at this thread before a sticky. I like that it's constantly evolving over here, too. Plus, it's something we maintain. If it were a full brand of machines instead of one type of product, I'd be more apt to agree with a sticky.

Added a fuse in the back panel. Also added new rubber feet/grommets, from Zoro Tools.

At speed, this beast makes nice whirring noises, and moves a lot of air around the bench!

The label says to use a Time Delay 15 Amp Fuse, better believe it.

i'm not certain, but i have seen a few OSU and Michigan games so is the red in the water tray have any reference to an OSU color?

i have an almost new commercial 1964 with a stand that i'd trade you for yours in a minute if you ever get tired of that much power on your bench.

The fuse idea came form a suggestion in a thread on OWWMs site.

Those guys really know their motors, so I thought it a worth while upgrade. Since it is not OEM, the label must be refering to the circuit protection device when circuit breakers weren't common?

Haha, the OSU reference is just a welcome unitended consequence.

The fact is, I've seen that on a few, not all, commercial grinders and liked it.
