Sad, sad day around here today. The neighbor had to make the call with their 15y/o blonde Lab "Boomer". They moved in with a couple young kids and got Boomer soon after, 15 years ago. Good Boy has "raised" two great kids over there and was just starting to meet their grand kids. At the time they moved in, we had a black Lab "Buddy". The two of them were best buds for a few years until our Lab headed to the rainbow himself in 2012😇 I adopted our current black Doberman/Lab mix (in the images here) later in 2012. Our boy and their blonde have been inseparable ever since. I've posted pics of these two before here. Hurts just like one of my own.
First shot is from today when we headed over before the vet arrived. They had one more romp around the yard and field, but ol' Boomer just couldn't manage. Back legs were done. He was doped up good and not in any pain, but ya knew. So did my boy, he knew. The other shots posted are from his daily visits over here every morning looking for his buddy to go play.
Sorry to ramble, but taking a break from working on a little digital memorial for their boy.💔

Started storming sideways. Possible tornado spotted a mile or so south of me (town proper). Thunderstorms, etc.

So Otis and I stayed inside.

I got him a harness the other day ago and was trying it on him, letting him get comfortable with it on, but left it on in case we had to get gone fast. I’ll be getting him a padded harness. One a bit better. This is so he gets used to wearing one. I can’t use the collar with the leash anymore because he pulls hard sniffing the ground, and he does this spin/flip/pull, to try and slip his collar. He end up choking himself though. Hopefully the harness helps.

Here he is staring towards the front door and the lightening lol. IMG_4556.jpeg

What a great thread. I've got a couple neighborhood strays who came to live in my garage last year. We brought them in to heal up after being TNR'd (with the intention to turn them loose again) but they decided to turn around and come right back inside. Think they preferred the cushy indoor cat life, haha.

Here's a picture of them I took last night, laying on top of one of my projects. Their expression says "Ace & Sidney are tired of your sh**". 😹

And a bonus picture of Ace helping to plug a nail hole in a tire. He's always ready to lend a hand - er, paw - whenever there's work to do!

I think it’s great when they pick their home. Three years ago a mama cat a two of her kittens were living in our shed, they were gone for a week and one came back and found her way into the house, and never wanted out, why would she, three squares a day plus treats, AC in the summer and heat in winter, not a dumb cat. We had cats long time ago and thought no more at this point but turns out she is the best cat ever.

I also posted this pic on my Glendora Garage thread.

The pups are there to bark at anything up to and over the horizon that moves including zombies, ghosts, children riding bikes and walkers PARTICULARLY if they are walking a dog! Whew! It's good not to have to worry when my back is turned, ha ha.

I know dogs like to do this, but PLEASE get a restraint for her. Our lab, Winnie, rode in the back seat unrestrained with her head out of the window until one day I had to brake hard and pitched her out the window! She was lucky and only got some scrapes.

That day we got a harness and a strap that attached to the center seat belt. The strap was long enough for her to get her head out the window and comfortably move around in the seat.

Same dog got thrown out the window the day I rolled my dad's 67 international 4X4 PU. Again, slow on a dirt road, and it was a half roll, side then top. leaving me hanging by the seat belts. The right-side arm of the steering snapped, and that wheel caught the berm on the right shoulder, and it was like kicking the legs out from under a drunk...

I didn't even miss him until he came hobbling back 5 min later. he was bruised a bit and not exactly bouncing around but was OK. he was probably at last 12 when it happened. I was sixteen.
