That's the model number for the pouch itself. The kit was 1200-F. Here's an excerpt from the Catalog No. 19-R series. This appears in REPRINT, SECOND, THIRD, and FOURTH PRINTINGS, which date to late war and postwar, just before 1948. I'm not showing it, but the wrenches are depicted as pebble on the same page.

P&C color scheme! The description of all the rolls in cats No. 16-B, 17-B, 18-A, 19, 19-A, and all 19-R's, so, 1938 to 1947, says black and silver. This rolls graphic appears in No. 12 (1933) and No. 15-A (1936), but doesn't describe the colors. Note that it oddly never includes 2413. I don't remember seeing this graphic earlier than that and I have never inspected every kit that has a roll in those very early cats to see if any description mentions color scheme.

Congrats! That is a nice looking one! I'm still missing four deeps. 121 and 122 in 3/8 drive and 131 and 136 in 1/2 drive. 136 has alluded me in 2 previous deals in the past that for one reason or another have fallen through, lol!

Yes the deeps can be tricky. I am now down to 5 left. I believe the WF-131 to be the hardest one to locate based on other collectors.

Did you mean in rollups, Smoke? Or did you just mean in general? I know you've been part of conversations about the "lustrous metallic blue enamel" boxes and rollers (Toolmobiles) from 1938 and 1939, so I'm guessing that's what you were referring to. But if you've seen another one of these, please let me know.

Note that @mustangSR70 has a No. 2410 rollup, black, sliver trim, with blue backing. That's the closest I have seen to this No. 2413. Linked here.

Interestingly enough, we do have one example of a blue Plomb item from the same era (late 40's) as this black and blue rollup, and that is a blue hip roof flip top style box that @RagTopTA posted here. That lends some credence to the originality of those tools in a rollup of that color scheme.

My interest in the roll-ups is a little more than academic. As some of you may recall, I was dithering around with the idea of making reproductions. This was years ago now. My initial motivation was selfishly for myself and my complete No. 3400C set of very early PLOMB LA tappet wrenches in need of a No. 2405 rollup. Thinking about how many guys find or build wrench sets but have no roll-up and, let's face it, little to no hope of finding one - they're that rare, I thought it would be a nice little cottage business model. I had started doing research by looking through the catalogs - you can see my summary of them above, and gathered as many examples from this thread as possible. And then like most good ideas, never followed through.

There are no examples of any roll-up here (that I can find searching on "blue", "roll", "roll-up" and "pouch" with the search function, anyway) that are black leatherette with blue trim and backing.

Going through them again revealed a more dizzying variety of main, trim and backing colors than I remembered, and rather than just keep those notes to myself, here is a fairly good list of rollups on this thread.

Don's No. 2402 is black, with silver trim, as the catalogs describe it, but note that his has black backing in the inside. Linked here.

By contrast, @RagTopTA 's No. 2402 is black, silver trim, with khaki-colored backing. Linked here.

Hi Roy. Yeah, I'm sure we could amass dozens of "exceptions" to the widely recognized rules and come up with various plausible explanations from multiple production facilities, contractors /tool types, employee mistakes, undiscovered code meanings, overstock, oversight, not giving a ****, whatever As you know, In this particular case, it's widely accepted that, for tools, Plomb changed their "O" to a "V" shape at some point in 1934..and it's also theorized that the date code letters run in some kind of chronological sense ie. "A" being earlier than "B" being earlier than 'C". whether each letter signifies a month or a quarter of the year. In my example the 34A, an earlier alleged production cycle has the later"V" and the 34C, a later cycle has the earlier"O". Could just be a stamping error, the fact that the stamp is on different parts of the extension is another issue. It's no big deal, I just saw some posts going over the letter puzzle again and thought aside from the month /quarter/ production run or facility ideas there's this non sequential anomaly.

Valid point. All my examples of wrenches (adjustables) and other tools could be contract productions. Even the Bog sourced drive tools from the war eras have the triangle O.

Also, the possibility that the "date code" stampings came after the already-marked item was pulled from stock to distribute. This would explain late dated items with round-O PLOMB.

I had to make the decision of whether to go with wood or plastic handles and I kind of prefer the look of the wood.

I've become a fan of wood handle drivers. I'm working on a user set from oledvintage/antique that are in good shape on the grips and can be fixed on the tip if worn. (Phillips have to have good tips...)

My user drivers are all wood handles. There are a few companies that still sell them, such as Grace and Felo, and I tend to use those.

I do, however, use Xcelite type nut drivers, and not Spintites, even though I have a full set of them. I like the different colors for size differentiation.

Pretty close to that 1" drive socket that shows up every now and then with the funky hex cross hole. I'm sure someone on here has one. I don't think that particular socket is represented on this list but the numbering scheme has to be pretty close....I think.

A 1/4" set mostly from 1941. Came with the micro ratchet but I was more excited for the 4747 Carter Pump Discharge Nozzle socket.

Thank you. It appears to be different. The 10-B catalog has all the early alpha character part numbers where 10-C seems to be a mix of both likely during the transition era.
