yes, they work. try right-click | copy and then paste them into a new tab.

the viglink link redirection screws things up, sometimes.

So Sears sends me this $15 off 40 email, and another one saying my free shipping has been extended. but the clincher is - "We're sorry, technical issues have prevented this coupon from loading from your email".

This has happened to me when I click on the coupon but am signed in to sears on another account. Lately though I get a lot of errors that I never did before so I think they are messing with their system.

edit - I got a similar 10 off 20 coupon in the mail and it won't load either.

Almost out of things to buy. Got almost everything on the thread with my points. I'd like to find the 6-inch Slovakian clamp but no dice there.

I bought one. Same reason, running out of things to buy, had points to burn, and was on deep discount sale.

Got it two days ago. Made in China. Haven't used it yet. It is branded a "Craftsman Professional" rather than the regular "Craftsman" like the other step drill bits in the 3-packs. Not sure if this "Craftsman Professional" is a step up from the regular Craftsman 3 piece set. The picture on the website is silver color, but the product is actually a gold color titanium coated. Looks well made and sharp.

Heck, I got it for free with points, so what the heck.

Well, decided to pick one up today with my points. Got incredibly lucky, hiding at the very back of the peg was a Swiss made gem. Worth every penny of the $12 in points I spent on it. For sure check your local stock to see if any non-chinese versions are still there hiding.

Online price was way different than in store though, so had to order in store and then make sure the associate pulled the one I wanted.

Also USA older stock is still trickling into Sears so keep checking. Found this really nice 4 Pc torx set that I have been wanting for years to complete my set. Just stocked was not there a week ago. I asked came directly from corporate with regular delivery not their store room.

Just FYI, I notice that certain items that are never available in my Hometown Sears are now available for free store pickup. Example: 36 in US made pry bar (ordered - I been wanting to have one). I also notice Hanson socket trays are now available - seems highly recommended in GJ, so I am going to buy some once I have enough points.

On the other hand, some items are now not available, like knipex pliers.

Just found out the Sears at the mall in Fayetteville, AR is now on the list to be closed early January. A friend (and fellow GJ member) happened to be by there the other day and he said the place was pretty bare but prices were not that good.

They have a good price for the 36" pry bar (I think like $19), trying to get some SYW points to bring the price down but not having any luck. I too noticed I could have it shipped to my local Hometown store and was excited about that!

I wonder how long the Hometown stores will continue to last, I guess as long as Sears corporate continues to exist.... My local Hometown does pretty good selling appliances and lawn equipment, despite there being plenty of big-box stores and other large appliance dealers.

I was at the Fayetteville store last week. The prices of everything was the same as online, that is what was left. I did find a NOS USA made staple gun and a lifetime supply of staples to go with it. I got the staples for $.92 a box and had nothing in the stapler after points. I also bought a lifetime supply of USA made scroll saw blades for $1.20 a package. The staples and scroll saw blades are usually around $4. What was weird is they were still trying to get people to sign up for a Sears credit card.

Is anyone else finding massive clearouts at their local store?

I went again tonight and more stuff was marked down. None of it tagged - I had to scan everything. I got a multi-roller stand for $17 and a nice pair of Midwest crimpers for $11 - both about 50% off. These things weren't marked down when I went last week.

Yes, my store has had some great deals in October that has lasted into this month. The last couple years it ended in October but they keep adding stuff.

As the tool department shrinks, discontinued stuff falls out when they move the aisles around.

The package for this Craftsman Pro set was just nasty after so many years, but it was $2 and Made in USA:

Nice tool, I have it. But I got it for about 30 bucks from Sears. It's gone down to half price (half off $59.99 Sears retail) a few times over the last couple years. Might be worth holding off and seeing if it goes lower. Sears has been putting soldering tools on sale a lot the last few months.

Guess I should have put the price in the title... it was $29.** when I posted. That didn't last long.

Same thing happened to me over the weekend, I was going to jump in on small middle box for $40, but now it is at $70. Their pricing strategy, if there is a strategy, is roller coaster :lol_hitti.

What I do is find something they sell that I want(which is getting hard) and bookmark it in a folder with the price leading the description. About once a week I go through the list and update the price if lower. At this point I have a few years of bookmarked lowest prices, some of the stuff is already purchased. I like getting the most out of the points.

Went to the local Sears today. The tool department is empty, picked clean.

The also removed the entire Gladiator section in the middle of the tool department, and shifted everything around to fill in that empty space. Looks like a ghost town now. Picked clean carcass of a tool department.

Sad. Guess I'll just order online with free shipping or store pickup. The store itself is basically dead now. And the Kmart on the other end of the Mall is in final stages of store closing. This mall is basically going to die without those two anchors. There is a small Macy's that has never done well. Lots of empty space. Death of the American Mall. Teenagers growing up now will only read about it in the history books.

If you look at any of the emails Sears is sending, they are still advertising Gladiator, and quite prominent. Though if you go to the XTra page on SYWR, the vacuum contest shows a Dyson, and Sears sells no Dyson products (through them). They do a great job advertising stuff they don't even sell.

Another thing that happened to me today... I returned something, and was told they only do returns now as a Gift Card. I wasn't to worried about it, because it was a $9 item and I'll used the Gift Card money anyway on something else.

Not sure if this is some new policy. I would sure hate to spend a couple hundred dollars on something, and be given a gift card if I returned it.

Anybody else return something to Sears in the last couple days?

if you charged it - and why would you not? - i'd do a chargeback to the card i they refused to do a return to the card.

Doesn't sounds right. I asked a Sears employee (though I could probably ask a bum and the answer would be just as legitimate), and he was unaware of only returning to a gift card. That sounds highly suspect, and possibly illegal. The only way it should go to a GC, is if you paid with one or you had a return without a receipt, which they don't allow anymore.

I agree, it doesn't make sense.

Brought the item to the register with receipt in hand. Said I wanted to return the item. The cashier (who is competent and been working there for years) said, "The return would be in the form of an e-gift card emailed to my account." They didn't even look at the receipt, so wouldn't even know how I paid. They said "Is that okay before I process the return." I said sure. They returned it and gave me a receipt that showed the returned item, returned item amount, and said "The e-gift card amount above will be e-mailed to XXXXX@***.COM"

So something has changed, at least in the store I go to. It seems to be some new policy that they only give virtual gift cards (and not even physical gift cards) for returns.

I bought an item on line, with pickup in store. Web page said store had in stock. Didn't hear anything, so I went in the store. Store employee said they have never carried the item, and had not gotten notice from sears. com that I had ordered it. I was not angry at the employee; he was pleasant. Went home and got on chat with sears.com and said just to cancel the order. I used some of my points and paypal to pay for the item (it was a garden tool). Sears said they would cancel the order but could not credit the paypal account the amount which had in fact been paid through paypal, but would give credit on "shop your way". I don't know what is going on, but i'm not pleased about it. I'm thinking of filing a claim with paypal.

Been there, done that. Same issue. Went round-and-round with Sears and Shop Your Way.

To make a long story short. The only way I got my money back was filing a dispute with PayPal.

But in my case it was like a $400 item, so was worth the fight. Not sure if I would have gone through that nightmare for a garden tool worth a few bucks. If you want your money back, you are going to have to open a paypal dispute and document the process, with receipts, pictures, emails, phone call conversations, etc. You will get your money back, but it is going to be some work on your part.

EdJack. Is your store closing?

No, the store is not closing, or on any list to close. I was almost thinking this was some kind of liquidator sale or something, imposing rules. But no, this is a store with a going forward concern. Not sure what is going on. Next time I go over I'll ask the store manager. I know basically everyone there, been going there for years. Not sure what is going on.

They do seem to be struggling, shelves are bare, no restocking of merchandise. Sad, because I know all those employees, and they must be hurting.

Exactly!

This is why I always buy using credit card. If the store want to return as gift card, hell no. I can always do a chargeback if it comes to that. And no need to deal with Paypal. Paypal is great if I am buying via Ebay though.

Yes, I pretty much know what my Hometown store stocks, and when I saw an item (cheap) that said it was in-stock at my Hometown store I kind of started to question it. So I went down there first and checked and talked to the owner and sure enough he didn't have it, never did. Sears online system is pretty much a POS...

It goes the other way also. I have tried to order things that the Hometown store had multiples of on the shelves and the website said not available for local pickup or out of stock. By the way, the 26" red and black 10 drawer tool chest combo is currently $199. I didn't need another one, but with points I couldn't pass it up. I was able to get the mid chest with it for right at $200.

A little while ago I ordered the socket sets (SAE and metric) and two framing squares I saw posted here for pickup at store. After over a week I never got notice the items were available.

I went back online and stared a chat window. After a bit of chat they cancelled the online order, honored the prices (which had now been raised again) and shipped everything free, which took a large box because to the framing square.

A couple days later I went by the Sears store that I would have picked them up at and I was shocked. It WAS open but only had random piles of mixed goods in the 1/4 of the store that was left undamaged by hurricane Irma. This was a month after the hurricane and the stores around it were not damaged. I asked the employees if the store was closing and that's when they told me it was due to hurricane damage and that they were expecting new inventory to arrive in a week or so.

Hardly anyone is ever in this store and I am surprised they didn't just close it down.

Had they told me of the damage when I was on the chat line I would have let them cancel my order and been ok with it. Felt (just) a little bad.
