As part of the long ongoing process of cleaning out my parents house I (re)discovered this Ohio Tool #27 Jointer Plane. I remember it from my childhood but I don't remember anyone ever using it. Found it in an 1890 catalog on the ITCL. Probably just clean it up and stick it on my mantel.

That will be a beast of a user!
That's the premium line of tools compared to my Scioto posted above. Wedge the handle forward when you remount it. If the mouth is too wide, you can always resole it, but with the density of that tool, it plowed thru knots for me. Comfy handle too.

I've got an unmarked 26" plane, I need to get bigger wood, and a clearer bench to use it.

Early pre-lateral Stanley 4½ smooth plane (Type 4). It is 10” long with a 2 3/8” wide cutter.

Stanley began manufacturing the 4½ smooth planes in 1884, and late that year introduced the lateral adjustment lever, which became the defining feature of the Type 5s and all subsequent Types. As a result, the Type 4 was likely produced for less than a full year in 1884.

I've had this for a few months and finally got around to using it yesterday. The blade needs sharpening but it did a surprisingly good job. Quick and easy.

Not sure if this is the best category, but I have a hand scraper that uses a blade like a scraper plane. It was patented by Chester L. Britt on Feb 07, 1899 (#619131). The blade is 3" wide by 4 1/4" long, .066" thick. The only marking is on the frame down by where the blade comes out, buts it's difficult to read.

Here's a new-to-me (but not to the world) Scraper Shave I bought yesterday.
There is no name and it looks like it might have been user made. The handle is reminiscent of a tavisher but the sole and blade are flat.
The blade has a 45 degree bevel and is mounted not-quite 90 degrees to the sole. The wood looks like some kind of fruit wood - most likely apple.

Has anyone here ever used a scraper shave? I can't wait to try it out.

I have one that hinted at gunstock shave when comparing images online.

Need some opinions on this one. Marked United on the lever cap and a label by the frog United Tools. It has features indicating Stanley made it. The No. 4 at the nose. The kidney hole on the lever cap. The shape of the main body at the frog, the two piece lateral adjuster. Problem is it has a blade adjuster right-hand threaded and really bad surface finish on the sides, bottom and blade. The lever cap and chip breaker were chrome plated. No country of origin markings. Any ideas?

Here is one I haven't seen before. It's an aluminum block plane marked on lever cap "Util Plane of Chicago U.S.A.". (Old Tool Guy thinks it's Util-A-Plane). No other markings. It has an unusual shaped blade narrowing at the clap screw area. I believe the somewhat rectangular opens on each side was to accommodate a reamer for lever cap alignment. Very lightweight. It's .56 pounds compared to an equivalent sized iron Sargent of 1.25 pounds. Could not find any information on this company and this model is the only one I found with a search.

You may be right. Interesting scrabble like meaning? Still, can't find information. Would not recommend it for a user. Too light. Just doesn't feel right. One of my favorite block planes is a Veritas nickel alloy that feels three times heavier.
