TjoFrasse, you have two that have a plier type jaw on the other end, what are those for? Where did you get them?

I could make use of a really big one. I use something similar to roll fenders on demolition derby cars, how convenient to have it in one tool. That's pretty neat.

That is the Bahco "Alligator" jaw. It is designed to grip on pipes, rounded fasteners and such.

I have never seen them bigger than 8", they can still be found though: http://www.snaponindustrialbrands.com/cat-20-1-124/alligator.htm

Not sure if there is any other brand that uses the same design and might offer other sizes.

That Stanley locking adjustable is different. I guess it holds the jaw from coming loose on the nut. Or is it a home made modification?

Never seen either one before but the stanley was made that way. It locks the adjuster in place so it doesn't move when you take it off whatever you are turning, but it makes it so you have to unlock it, loosen it, retighten it, then lock it again every time you need to get another bite.

Not very handy, but its different and it cost me no dollars so I'll keep it.

I'll get some pics of all mine later. Been collecting for only about a year but I probably have 20+ all USA. My uncle collects nothing but Rigid pipe wrenches. Has 300+. But I have a 60" and he doesn't. Haha

Got three In the good box. Bahco the only Adjustable worth having. (Apart from the CL Wide jaws) Guys at work call them 'Cresent Wrenches' Invented by Bahco.

18" + 15" + 6" <~~ Not pictured.

Also have a Bahco 30" monster in my old mans garage back in the UK.

I have two Channel lock wide jaws at work (The Twins) 15" & 18" westward expendable.

Here are my beginners collection:

15's - Craftsman, Crescent, Williams
12's - Diamalloy, Utica, Proto, Crestology, Crestology
10's - Crescent, Crestology, Crescent, Rigid
8's - (no name but still USA), Indestro Super, Craftsman, Craftsman, Rigid, Proto, Proto, Challenger
6's - Blue Point, Crescent, Rigid, Proto, Proto

I missed a good deal the other day. A perfect condition Proto 24" at a pawn shop. It was marked $65 so I walked on past to browse the rest of the stuff and when I turned around my buddy had already bought the thing for $45! I offered him his money back but he wasn't interested. Lol

A little late to the party here, but thought I would post some pics of this 12" Thorsen wrench I picked up for a few bucks used... I don't think I've seen one like it posted so far. It's extremely well made, and nice to use. The somewhat strangely shaped handle is actually very comfortable in the hand. I don't exactly know what the angled surface is--feels like it should be a hammer? :headscrat But then, I don't like beating on things with a wrench!

The jaws are marked with mm on one side and inches on the other, as well as having 12" on one side of the handle and 300mm on the other. It doesn't appear to be too old, judging by the coating and the printed Thorsen logo on the handle.

Anybody know anything about this wrench? It's definitely a keeper for me--I use them, not collect them...

Looks like a newer production-USA patent-probably made in Tiawan-dual purpose hammer/adjustable wrench as a lot of adjustables were used for hammering and paid a severe price for doing so! Have no other ideas or cost associated with purchashing new--you got a steal for couple bucks!!:3gears:

Two things ID that as most likely an import after the Thorsen name was sold overseas: electro etched label, and metric markings, so it's not vintage /Thorsen, and most likely an Asian import, possibly Taiwan, since you indicate it's well made, but who knows? :dunno: . (Not to mention the built in striking face...)

The "USA" is tied to the patent, and not the COO, (Slyly placed I might add..)

Looking at getting some more myself. Epsteins has one made by Diamond.

Facom's is decent and fair price. depends on size you need. Facom's 14'' only opens to 3-1/4'' if I recall right. Some other 14-15'' ones open to 3-3/4''.

I read crescent's were made in China at least according to amazon. They didnt have good reviews.

Amazon and Northern tool sell these Air Capital Ford Wrench Set — 3-Pc., Model# 14224 never used them probably china id guess. I will probably buy the one from epsteins if they dont run out before I can.

Yeah the Crescent one opens much wider than the Facom does in the same wrench size, but I'd like to avoid China stuff if I can. That's my dilemma. I'll check out the diamond one- thanks for the info.

Do you mean "Ford Wrench"/"Auto Wrench"?

I don't think anyone has made a monkey wrench in many decades!

Unless you and I have different definitions of what a 'monkey wrench' is... crescent and facom still make them.

They aren't the same thing.

Monkey wrench:

Ford wrench:

I think most people would say those are both 'monkey' wrenches..

Google 'monkey wrench' and the first result is going to be the one that Facom still makes.

They are different. I knew what you meant. Many people refer to ford wrenches as monkey wrenches. Ford wrenches are more useful in my opinion anyways.

'Many people', including the people that make the tool...

I can't believe I'm letting myself be sucked into this type of argument....

But they're two tools that do the same job, in the same way. Call it a 'Ford Wrench' or an 'Auto Wrench' or a 'Monkey Wrench'... in the real world, outside of tool forums where people nitpick everything to death, those three terms are interchangeable. If you try to explain to someone that a tool that says 'Monkey Wrench' on the packaging isn't really a 'Monkey Wrench' you're going to sound like an idiot.
