Anybody having any issues buying bags of blasting sand? All of my local places have stopped selling it.

I spotted this on CL, might need to look into it today.
"185 sullair compressor with 4 cylinder John Deere diesel for parts. Has newly rebuilt injector pump by Abilene diesel. Ran good made good air but wouldn't idle down. Now will crank won't start I have to many projects to mess with it".

I'd say you should jump on that! Problems sound minor. Trick is to make them sound major when negotiating a purchase.
Figures the one item i really want doesn't have any contact information.

I hate that. There was an old Jaeger portable on Rochester CL with no contact info. Ad said "CALLS ONLY" with no number. Dude kept it on there for more than a year. Probably cussed out CL because no one ever called on it....lol
I had an old Jaeger but sold it.

Man, I tried that with the one I saw. I had 3 ads going on there and never heard a thing. I think it may have been an elderly gent, and he never looked at CL or had someone else put the ad on for him.

Anyone ever convert a siphon cabinet to a pressure style? What are the pitfalls, if any.
I found an older cabinet that is pressure style and thought it would make a nice upgrade to my pretty siphon unit.

What I should do is just sell my current one as is and then use the pressure one for a bit, until I can get the big unit I have going, except that has been on the back burner for several years now.

Bought an IR600 like that years ago. Rain in 2 cylinders, it needed a rebuild.
Never happened, I ended up scrapping it out. Sometimes I wish I didn't.

Around here, the meth heads would have scrapped out the compressor and used the trailer to live in. Prob try to pull it around behind a bicycle......

Trying to decide if I'm going to scrap this Cyclo Blast cabinet 60x48x36. I don't see myself spending $2K for new filter bags and I'm moving into my new shop.

Can you install a blower to just extract the dust outside the shop and trap it in a filter bag with a catch bucket at the bottom for nuisance dust?

It's a novel unit, but it's also a screamer, and a leaker being a Detroit.
I wonder how it does on fuel compared to a 4 cyl 4039 JD engine?
I have a question for the compressor experts.
I have a potential buyer who is interested in my Quincy rotary screw compressor. His concern is that it is a little too big for his needs. He is building a new shop and will be doing sandblasting as well as running CNC machines.
The unit in question is 40HP 187 CFM. He has power service available but a 20 or 30 HP unit would prob serve his needs.
Besides the “never too big” mantra which only goes so far, what other selling points could I use to my advantage?
I realize inrush power requirements might be the biggest downside.

I think whomever is looking at a 40 hp/ 3 phase compressor would have to power to run it. Good things are service records, hours the compressor has, seeing it operate.

Well, it's got a Baldor Super E motor on it, that should save substantial kilowatts over the rest of it's lifespan. I'd also have to deduct a few points for the non original paint color.

Been looking for a 60inch or so blast cabinet to get my powder coating setup going. Found this one which Is siphon feed. Would it be worth while to run it and convert to pressure feed in future or what do you guys suggest here.

I like the blasting setup, not sure on the conversion?
