Look at post #1

Aquamoose lists the machine with no consumables at $192.80 delivered to HIS house.

When you put in your request for machine and consumables, and give him your address, he will figure shipping to your door and add it all up and invoice you. Typically about $35 or so. My total in Detroit with 2 consumables and 1 cups was just under $250, delivered to my door.

Bill

You're missing the 3.1% handling fee (which is the paypal fee). I took the number I gave straight off my invoice.

Maybe one of the bronco guys can post a message to others there that they need to move on this

I'll post on the thread over there-

I bumped it too:

Bump.

If you're going to do this it is time to follow the instructions in post 1 of this thread on Garage Journal. The list of names & status is in post 2.

Going off his status list 139 out of the 297 on the list have requested the invoice as of the last update. Enough to get over the 120 threshold for the thing to work. 76 of those have paid to date. A lot of names left on the list who said they wanted in but haven't responded yet.

If you jumped in but are no longer interested, it would be good if you could post that info in the thread. They are also marking off the names of those who don't want it anymore.

Just an update, I'm gonna focus on my business for a bit here. To keep in mind,

1 - Tentatively, the buy-in is still good until Monday morning of the 16th. I'd like to get the final total from the paid invoices. For those sending in MO's, just inform me that it's on the way and I'll take your word for it. I'd suggest to send in your order via email as instructed by Sat evening at the latest. Any orders past the 16th will not be guaranteed. I'll take orders but won't invoice until I hear from the mfg if I could add more at the end.

2 - Some have inquired about Canadian shipping. Looks like there's a group of you willing to help one another by providing their location for shipping and I think it's great. But please inform me of the change do we can re-work the invoice to ensure that the ship-to address is showing the new address. As plain as it can be, if you pay via Paypal, I will only ship to your "eligible" or "partially legible" address as shown.

3 - Picking up from me. Yes, just pay the full invoice. Should you decide later that you want to pick it up, I'll refund shipping on the spot but by law, I must collect sales tax when paying via PayPal. Bringing cash saves you fees, tax, and shipping.

4 - If you're picking up for others, contact me directly for instructions.

5 - If something's not right or if you're confused about the process, post your questions here. I found that the others have pitched in answers and this helps me tremendously, thank you! I'll get back to this tomorrow evening.

6 - To all, thank you for your patience, for following instructions carefully, for contacting others, for helping others with their questions, for throwing a few bucks in, all of it. I recognize it and appreciate it very much!

Until tomorrow evening, be safe!

Sean

Sean, if we pay you with a postal money order instead of PayPal, are we still obligated to pay the sales tax? Or can we avoid paying the sales tax as well as the 3% PayPal fee by using a postal money order?

No. Sales tax and PP fees applies only to PayPal payments with a Washington shipping address and pick-ups.

I have one guy that wants a pickup, so that's two units I'm possibly picking up ... I'm in Puyallup, so anyone on the west side (Olympia/Seattle Corridor) that wants to save a few buck, let me know by this weekend.

Just send me a PM.

I'm in Kalispell, Mt. the Roosville boarder is about 60 miles from me. For some that may be better than Sweetgrass. If that helps let me know.

Thanks, I'll let you know.

There are a number of companies in Sweetgrass that you can ship parcels to and they will hold for as long as required. Costs are minimal usually about $4 U.S. per package. I use Montana Shipping Outlet.

Thanks for the heads up.

Not an electrician... But I assume this will require a NEMA 6-50 circuit (50 amp, 6-2 romex)? I already have a 30 amp 240 10-2 circuits, but I see similar spec'ed ones requiring 6-50... This true with this cutter?

According to other Ebay sellers selling the same thing, this unit draws 25 amps of 240vac at the 50 amp output setting. The 50 amp output setting has a 60% duty cycle rating (40 amp and lower output has 100% duty cycle rating), so a regular 30 amp 240v plug is fine even after factoring in duty cycle and the 80% rule for sizing circuits. What this also means is that if you are planning on making a longer extension cord for this unit, 10 gauge is fine.

I only have a 20 amp 240vac plug in my shop at this time, so I will be setting mine up for that style plug and then only using the unit at a setting of 40 output amps or less for now (so I don't trip the breaker).

So the 10-2 circuit is sufficient? As long as the receptical is at least 30A?

8 40
10 30
12 20

20 1.5
I have been running my thermal dynamics 40 amp unit on a 30 amp 220 breaker for years with out ever tripping . As long as your wire to the panel is sufficient shaping up from a 20 amp breaker to a 30 amp is a simple job .

A 10-2 cord (with a 3rd ground wire) is fine for anything between the wall outlet and the plasma cutter no matter what amperage wall outlet you have.

If you are talking about the wire in the wall of the home between your electrical panel and the wall outlet, you can run 10 gauge there as well as long as your circuit breaker and plasma cutter wall outlet are not larger than 30 amp. Using a 30 amp rated breaker and outlet with 10 gauge is fine.

The most economical combination would be 10 gauge wire for everything from your circuit panel to the plasma cutter, with a 30 amp 240v wall outlet and plug. Electric dryer outlets and plugs should be the most cost effective and easiest to find option for the receptacles.

Just a note. I am using either an existing unused dryer or range receptacle as a source of power. I am told that there are 2 ways to bring power from that location to a new receptacle in the shop. One is to continue wiring that is the same size as the existing circuit, out to the new shop location. No change in the breaker is needed for this.
The other method is to bring smaller wire and change the breaker to a smaller size, to match the smaller wire.
Of course the best way to connect to the existing circuit is in a junction box.

Looking at the pictures on page1 and the attached PDF manual it appears the torch comes with a steel(?) ring attached to maintain distance from the tip to workpiece, so i'd say yes you can drag on the steel(?) ring

I sent email too and no response as yet and now I have a friend that wants to add on. No rush, just checking in 👍

Does your friend want to add on to your order or do his own. If his own, then just have him join to get a user name and then go to the start of this thread and make an email request just like anyone else.

If he wants to add on to yours, then you need to send an email referencing your prior order and the additional items so a revised invoice can be sent.

I grew tired of waiting and bought one local back when the original thread started wavering. You can scratch me off the list.

I'm a cancellation... I picked one up locally for $350 with a bunch of consumables and a local warranty, when the original deal fell through and there was talk of postal money orders and stuff.

Thanks Aqua and hope everything works out for everyone, it's very generous of you to take all this on for nothing!

Ok guys, invoice paid for two units. Also I sent another payment afterwards for a little donation to the cause. By the looks of it and very typical of any group buy I've been involved with, a majority of the guys will bail when it comes to laying down their cash. If for some reason the donation cash doesn't add up to help both Bob and Moose, please let me know and I'll gladly throw some more down.

Thanks to everyone that's helping out with this, you guys rock!.
