Those quotation marks have been the subject of discussion before but that is a real sears craftsman set. I bet if he shows us a picture of the lid it would show the heritage logo. I can’t remember the vendor who made them for sears

Picked these up at an estate sale last week for $275.00
I picked this up off of FB Market. Was not local; seller agreed to ship. $50 all in. Nice condition, both the box and the tools. We know Craftsman didn't make these. Who did? Greenfield?
Added some pics, by request![]()

You missed the Insane Clown Posse Garage Sale Thread Host year by two years.OK, so it's Pick-er only. Thanks for the clarification!
Hi Merc. Not without additional markings, no, sorry. They may not be military, though. That is an 11-digit Federal Stock Number, so I can tell you they were made between 1953 and the early 70's. The type and model numbers are Federal Standard Stock Catalog references. The FSSC was like an early version of the GSA or DLA catalog. In the 1930's and 1940's, it was run out of a bureau of the Treasury Dept. All federal agencies would buy from it, at standardized prices. So those could have been in any federal office building in the 50's or 60's.Master Lugz, any idea where the lamps in this post came from?

How much did you have to pay for the Mac truck? Did it come with tools?
He's asking $15,000! It's vintage, but I can't tell how old, can you? 143,000 miles. I was seriously wondering if it came with the franchise and the guy's route/customers! b.well
We have a good Tap & Die thread on the vintage board. Several Craftsman sets have been posted there. I posted photos of the 5498 version of your set there (you can find it it in the Index in the Sticky, page 4, post #71), after first posting it in the 2018 version of this thread. And if you want to see the /G\T/D\ version of your set, NastyNate found one back in 2018, linked here.
Is it just me? I'm not seeing pelletman's pictures. Just a Do Not Enter symbol for each one.

I apologize for any clerical and/or accounting errors I may have committed here, but I will not be conducting any further investigations or statistical spelunking into months Jan-Aug, as a precaution against retcon rash, paradox psychosis, mobius malady, etc.
OK, so it's Pick-er only. Thanks for the clarification!

Awesome, didn't even know I was in the running.
I'm gonna hafta step it up

Hey, all: just a reminder that in our illustrious thread host's opening post, suction designations are only one factor to be considered.
"As inaugurated by Private Lugnutz and confirmed by BlueBomber, there will be a PICKER-OF-THE-YEAR trophy awarded at the end of the year. I will nominate 10 candidates with 20 or more posts on this thread who, in my estimation, exemplify the high standards of economy, quality, esprit-de-corps, perspicacity…(AKA “best year of finds”). GJers will then vote to choose the winner."
Also, remember this is all in good fun...
In other news, some of you who were on previous Garage Sale threads may remember I was on a Craftsman Radial Arm Saw bounty hunt for a while. The Emerson Tool Company at the time was offering $100 for every saw head returned under a recall program, and they were paying for the shipping! Over about 24 months, I managed to turn in around 10 of the 8" & 10" saws, and have used the rest of the leftover parts (frames, nuts & bolts, etc) in numerous projects (including last year's PotY trophy!). Alas, all good things come to an end, and after Emerson dropped the bounty to $50 per saw, I quit the RAS rendering business.
However, during my hunting months, I acquired two Bronze-era Craftsman saws that melted my heart and I spared them from the chopping block. One was a 1960 model year and the other was a 1st-year-of-manufacture 1957 model. They were beauties, and still ran smooth on their 60 plus year old bearings, but who needs two radial arm saws? After spending the past few months advertising on FB Marketplace, I finally found a good home this weekend for the '60 saw. And, at a 60 dollar sale price, I not only made ten bucks on the deal, I also know the new owner won't be gutting her for the bounty!
The reason I share this story is that our hobby as recorded on this thread is about good bargains, for sure, but it's also about preserving and appreciating the history and long-lasting nature of garage-related tools (my scrapping of newer Craftsman RAS's notwithstanding). Although I haven't been on this thread nearly as much this year as in the past, I still check in to see the finds and really appreciate the odd, old and unusual that all of you are bringing in. Sure, You ***** are fun, impressive and practical (I've made this hobby mostly pay for itself with YS finds), but the stories and camaraderie are what keep me coming back.
Nothing near me this weekend, so best of luck to the rest of you! Happy hunting!
Nice one on the cross peen Dan! You don't see the vertical version often.
TX shoots from the outside circle and SCORES! You **** on the anvil, Wilton Baby, - Oh heck - All of pic 3!
Tx, we need a couple more photos of your vises! Nice finds.
Thanks. It’s maybe 2 oz. at the most. I’m going to make a handle for it one of these days.
