    Tire lift For The Geriatric....

I'm getting up there in years and after having 3 knee surgeries, I'm at a point where I must work smarter and not harder, or else I pay a premium price. After having a great deal of difficulty lifting the tires of my Tacoma onto the hubs and straining my back, I had to figure out an easier way...

Repairing Butcher Block Work Table Cracks

I just discovered this butcher block top (app. 18" x 60") and plan to use it as a work table. It does have some cracks that I would like to repair. Being that this isn't destined to be a piece of fine furniture, what would be the most inexpensive yet best method to repair it?

HF 2 Ton Aluminum Jack Conversion....?

I'm in the process of attempting to convert a Harbor Freight 2 ton aluminum floor jack to an off-road floor jack using some of Pro Eagle parts. I'm beginning to regret starting this project because it might prove to be more expensive than Pro Eagle's 2 ton unit. Obviously, if that is the case I...

Bit Storage ON Dwalt Impact Driver DC825

I've been searching pretty much to no avail for some form of 1/4" bit holder/storage for my Dewalt DC825. The best I could come up with is this. Any ideas...

    1/2" Craftsman Digitork Wrench.....?

I've had this old girl (purchased in the early 80's) for a long time. I've only used it for 2 head swaps and tire rotation. Sadly, during floods in 2006, it took a 3 day swim. At that time I dried it out and lubed it up. After nearly 40 years, should I pick up a Quinn Torque adapter to test it's...

    First attempt at electrolysis...??

I cobbled together the items needed for electolysis rust removal. I need to clean up a steering knuckle from a Dana 30. Using a 5 gal. plastic bucket, expanded steel as my sacrificial, Oxy Clean to create the electrolyte, and a manual battery charger. My first run of about 2 hours yielded some...

    Removing Rust From Chain.....??

I found a long chain (5/16) in the barnyard that was pretty badly rusted. I'm giving it a good soak in a vinegar/salt bath and it's almost finished. I might bring it to work and pressure wash it to remove any other crud. My question, once it's all cleaned up, what's the best and economical...

Dewalt DC410 Cut Off Tool ...??

I have a Dewalt DC410 cut off tool (18v) and was wondering if I can use a type 27 cut off wheel with the type 27 guard (which I have). I don't see any reason I can't use it as type 27 grinding wheels can be used with the type 27 guard. Any experience with this?

    Rigid or Dewalt Boxes...?

My growing collection of Dewalt cordless tools is forcing me to look at toolboxes to keep them in order. I have a Rigid box for my electrical tools and it's pretty bombproof. How do the Dewalt (Tstak and their upper end boxes) compare? Wheels are a plus.....

    Generic/ eBay Dewalt 18v Batteries....??

Any experiences with the higher capacity generic 18v batteries for Dewalt cordless tools? They're about half the price of the genuine Dewalts which makes them attractive BUT I'm not sure about the quality and longevity. Any experiences with them?

    Another stubborn tire bead ??....

I'm having trouble seating the beads on new LT235x75-15 General Grabber AT2's on Jeep OEM 15x7 steelies. They arrived banded together and the sidewalls push inwards making seating the beads almost impossible. However I did manage to get one to seat after wrestling with it for too many hours...

    1/2" Impact Recomendation For Vehicle..??

I carry both a Viair compressor as well as a 10# CO2 tank for airing up and impact wrench use in my Jeep. I was toting a IR 231 but being that one of my home impacts is sidelined, I'm looking for recommendations and opinions for what would be best to carry in my Jeep. The CO2 regulator is 150...

    Husky H4140 1/2" Impact Parts?

I have a Husky H4140 (1/2") air impact and I'm in need of some parts for it. There must be a seal that has worn out as it's leaking oil (gear oil?) from the nose of it. There used to be a site that had parts for select Husky tools, but I don't think that it's in existence now. Any ideas as...

    Bottle Jack Upgrade......

I fabbed up a bottle jack axle cradle from scrap at work. I used a variant of the ones available from Bogert Manufacturing. I might put together a small set of extensions for it when there is a break in the weather.... Another option would be to use a spring perch and modify that to be...

    Grey Pneumatic - Do I have a counterfeit ??...

I just received the second Grey Pneumatic wheel weight pliers and I believe there's a strong case that it's a counterfeit or at best a factory second. I purchased them from different sources. Before I go off half cocked, I'd like some opinions regarding this. I'm sure the questionable plier...

Hitch Mount Portable Tire Changer Mod.....

I needed to fab up a hitch mount for my Harbor Freight portable tire changer that would allow for the vehicle to be parked at an angle and keep the tire changer plumb. I was trying to do this as cheaply as possible, but I probably have $25-$30 into it. It killed me to have to buy steel at...

New Life For Old Vise Grips......

    Harbor Freight Portable Tire Changer....

I just ordered one to do my own tires and I was thinking on fabbing a hitch mount instead of bolting it to the floor. I've seen several examples but was hoping for some more ideas....

    Peeling Chrome/Plating....What to do??

I have several old vise grip pliers that the plating is peeling badly. What do you guys do in such a situation. I am considering sandblasting them and then powder coating them. I can have this done for free so cost isn't an issue. Any other ideas?
