    Sound proofing from traffic noise.

Hi thanks for the info everyone and to elaborate on the windows I ordered they are double pane, and the panes are of different thickness, the outside pane is over twice the thickness of the inside pane and is a laminated type glass, which is like a windshield of a car, has that extra layer...

    Sound proofing from traffic noise.

A portion of the garage is the office, and this is the office space, the other walls are all interior to the shop and fairly quiet, the problem with the windows is, when they set the windows they will set the jam extension flush with the face of the inside wall and flash out. To keep the window...

    Garage water storage.

Thanks. Setup works good. Just need some rain to fill my totes! I got about 100 gallons the other day. Watered the fresh sod a few times, seemed to like the fish oil. I will not be using this as potable water. After some use the one tote that had some fish oil residue I'm betting will be...

    Garage water storage.

So. I have a low yield well. Water is clean but not enough for outdoor water activities. I bought two 300 gal, ibc totes, the shop has about 1000sq ft roof, and I had it draining down in one spot, now it drains into one tote, they have 2" outlets which I tied together, and they feed a RV style...

    Covered porch receps

that's what I do, unless the customer is super cheap. Takes an extra hour to drill/cut/chip away stone brick etc to recess a box. I just use a standard 1110 galvanized box, feed from the back. Some PL premium around the edge bonds the box to the brick then once dry I put my gfci in, my in use...

Batt insulation - faced or unfaced question

Up here we use breathable exterior house wrap. Insulate, then poly vapour barrier on the inside. Tuck tape all interior penetration. Air sealing is the most important imo. I also always drywall and tape 3 coats. Use a vinyl baseboard, silicone to the floor, and glued to the wall. I used to...

Types of old drywall in homes.

For some reason I believe I found information on the back of a piece when I took down a small wall and was able to determine the manufacturer and that it didn't contain asbestos. I guess that doesn't determine what was in the brown coat, or the finish coat. I know I had ceiling tiles tested...

    New 30x36x10 pole building questions

I sure did attach them. No slab movement, but I use a tube heater. The floor probably stays warm enough to keep frost away, good drainage, and grading helps keep water away from the building too.

    New 30x36x10 pole building questions

Mines 13ft high. I just framed up between the poles with 2x4s @16", crowned em. R14 roxul, then vapor barrier. Then sheeted with 5/8 type x. Attic got R14 roxul, vapor then strapped at 16 in oc prior to drywall. I then blew in cellulose to r60 in the attic. I heat it all winter here, no...

Types of old drywall in homes.

yes that sounds like it. However there are no holes in the first layer. I wish I would have taken a photo. My house garage was all that when I gutted it, except no finish coat on top of the grey rough coat. I did have a small portion of it in my basement when i took out a wall beside the...

Types of old drywall in homes.

So what I have is basically strips of 1/2 drywall product. Then rather then a plaster over top they apply basically like a concrete parging over the entire wall, they use a metal mesh style inside and outside corner bead. Then they skim with plaster. Its very strong and very heavy. Overall...

    Scan Tool

BMWs ? All your going to find is basic function. Those cars are nasty, anything newer that is. I'd recommend autoenginuity. I use it on my sprinter vans and its excellent.
