Found an old bit marked "Rawldrill #10." I'm assuming it was used to drill for anchors, but in what? And what did the other end go in?

How the heck do I put this back together? (1/2" Impact Gun)

I took this impact apart a while ago but I can't seem to figure out how to get it back together. It's a Chicago Pneumatic 1/2" but there are no markings on it. So I can't figure out what model it is. I believe I have the hammer portion as well as the motor portion with the vanes installed...

What is this Piece of Hardware/Tool?

Time for everybody's favorite game: Name That Mystery Object. I can't, for the life of me, figure this one out. I don't even know if it's a tool or simply a piece of hardware. Both ends of it are threaded. That allen key looking thing is threaded into one end, and the other end has threads of a...

Tool Storage: Drywall Knives, Concrete Trowels, etc.

How do you guys store things like masonry trowels, joint knives, mud boxes and the like. Some of my finishing trowels are 10+ inches, and they take up a lot of space in a traditional rollaway tool chest. Any ideas?

Most common SAE and Metric Thread Sizes for Automotive Work

A local wholesale store has some Hanson NOS taps and dies for cheap that I'm looking to pick up. Lacking a tap and die set, I usually purchase said tools on an individual as needed basis. But since this store has them for such a good price, I'm looking to stock up. My question to you is, what...

    Stuck Ball Joint

I have a ball joint that is stuck in the lower control arm. I've tried hitting the outside of the control arm where the ball joint goes through but the ball joint won't pop out. Is there any way to get it out other than with a pickle fork? In my experience in this type of situation, the pickle...

Tapping Threads into 1/8" Sheet Metal

Would it be possible to tap threads into a piece of 1/8" thick sheet metal? For what it's worth, the threads I need to tap are 1/4-18 NPT. So if I'm doing my math correctly, that's .125 times 18, which means there will be 2.25 threads. Is that enough for it to catch?

Installing a Time-Sert without Repair Kit Tools

The Time-Sert kits that they sell include, besides the inserts: a drill bit, counterbore, tap, and an installation driver. These kits can be rather pricey. For example, a M12 X 1.50 kit is running on Amazon for 88 bucks... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001JK44D4/?tag=atomicindus08-20 However...

    Tapping 3/8 hole to 7/16

The threads on a 3/8-16 hole got all boogered up. I was wondering if a 3/8-16 hole has enough metal left to tap to a 7/16-14 or 7/16-20. If not, what about a M12 x 1.75? Or is the heli-coli/time-sert route the way to go?

Checking the Accuracy of a Used Torque Wrench

I recently picked up a used torque wrench and I was wondering what is the best way to check its accuracy without sending it out to be calibrated. I feel as though calibration would be a bit cost prohibitive due to the torque wrench being just a cheapie. I also do not have another accurate torque...

Line Wrench Doesn't Fit Over Line, Crowsfoot Line Wrench Does

Anyone ever hear of such a thing? I was changing the brake line on a Dodge Dakota. Went to go slip a Snap On line wrench over the line and on to the nut, and it wouldn't fit over the line. Pull out a Snap On crowsfoot line wrench and boom, slipped over the line just fine. What's up with that...
