    Anybody know anything about Blondewood

I am going to use plywood on the walls of my shop. Would rather use something other than OSB. Saw some type of wood at Lowe’s called “Blondewood” that looked nice and had a smooth primed surface. Of course, it was a good bit more expensive than OSB. Does anyone know anything about this type of...

How did you “layout” your metal liner panel ceiling?

I’m trying to decide what size panels I need to order for my 47L by 40W ceiling. I noticed that some people get panels all the same length so that the overlaps all line up (ie the seam will be a straight line all across the ceiling)while others may get panels and line up three panels and then...

Another question about ceiling liner panels

I am planing on using the metal liner panels for my new 40 by 60 shop ceiling. I am also going to go with the panels on the upper 4ft of my 12 ft walls. Bottom half will be plywood. i have questions about the trim pieces that I need to use. I understand that there is a “j” channel for the...

Cutting holes for canned lights in metal liner panel

Guys, in another post I mentioned that of the electricians suggested canned lights in my new shop as opposed to UFO lights. I don’t think I mentioned to him that I am wanting to use metal liner panel for the ceiling. Upon thinking about this more, I am wondering how difficult would it be to cut...

    If PCs canned lights

I have two different ideas from electricians for lighting for my shop. The “shop” part of the building is 47 by 60 by 12 ft ceiling height. One guy says to use 8 UFO lights at a total cost of about $850. Other guy says UFO’s are meant for higher ceilings and are too bright. He says can 12 can...

    Question about mini splits?

I am just finishing up drying in my new shop and I have walled off one end to have a kitchen and another room for a craft room for my wife. These two rooms are about 17 by 13 ft and 10 by 13 ft respectively. The shop will not be air conditioned or heated but I thought about a mini split for...

Will drywall crack in insulated garage.

Got an estimate for drywall for my shop and the guy said the drywall would probably crack because the space is not heated and cooled. Shop will be insulated and I live in middle Georgi. Has anyone experienced much drywall cracking in you shop.

    New posting question

I posted new pics of my 40 by 60build in Georgia. I assumed that this new posting would bump this the original thread back to the front page but instead it remains several pages back and no one will know that the thread has been updated. What am I doing wrong???

    Where to buy liner panel

I live in middle Georgia and would like to buy liner panel. I have checked around and most of the places around here do not even know what it is. There is a place that forms metal roofing out of large rolls but all they offer is thicker metal for roofs. My understanding is that the liner panels...

Best lights for 40 by 60 by 12

I have read thru many pages on lighting and must admit I am a bit overwhelmed by it all. The shop portion of my building is 47 by 40 (the rest 13 by 40 is office and storage) and I have 12 ft ceilings. Can anyone tell me is there a generic layout that I should use? Should I use flush mount or...

I am considering the metal liner panels for the ceiling of my shop that I am building and am also considering drywall for the walls. Can anyone tell me if they make any type of metal transition piece or molding for the intersection between the ceiling or the walls?? thanks

?? About air lines in shop

I was watching a you tube video and the guy was talking about how he ran his air lines for his compressor. The product he was using was call Max-Air and it was run kind of like pex and he bought it off Amazon. He said it was easy to install and obviously much cheaper than running a hard pipe...

?? On jack lift garage door openers

I am getting preliminary quotes on the doors for my new shop. I asked the sales guy about jack lift doors and he told me I didn’t want this type opener because if the door started to bind the opener doesn’t stop and will pull the cables off. I know several people here have these doors and have...

    Question about voltage drop

I am building a workshop located about 350 ft from house. House has 320 amp service. I already have a 100 amp wire run from house to barn (about 280 ft) that is used to power a well that I use to irrigate my grass primarily. Asked my electrician if I could run a wire from barn to new shop (...

Do I need to caulk relief cuts.

Do I need to fill the relief cuts on the concrete floor of my slab? It would seem to me that it would be a good idea otherwise they will get filled with dirt. Is there a special caulk that I should use? thanks

    ?? About cutting relief joint

They are finishing my concrete today and will be cutting the relief joints tomorrow. I read that for a 4” slab, they need to cut 12 ft sections in the slab. Does it matter where certain cuts are located. For example, if you have a 12 ft wide door, would it be better to line the front to back...

    Garage doors- insulated or not?

Thinking about my garage doors and we have started my 40 by 60 by 12 stick built shop. I live in middle Georgia and we do have some hot summers and usually the winters are pretty mild with only a few days below freezing usually. Will have 2 10 by 12 doors and 1 8 by 10 door. I am trying to...

Any ideas for sheathing interior walls.

I’m starting my 40 by 60 shop and am thinking ahead as to what be best for the interior walls and ceiling. This is a 2 by 6 stick built. I am aware that OSB is probably the cheapest but I am not crazy about it. I intend to paint the walls and it seems to me that OSB would probably flake off and...
