    Makita Addiction Thread

Does anyone have a good source for Makita parts? I've been using some "parts direct" site but it takes like 2 months to get anything that they don't have in stock. Any place that can get obscure parts (circuit boards, switches, etc) direct from Makita quickly?

    Glove recommendation needed

Interesting, I'm going to try these for my next box. The HF 7mil are pretty good but my hands sweat like crazy

Anyone use a Darwin's Grip for string trimmer?

I can't imagine how a bent aluminum tube handle is worth $120. I use a cheap Amazon shoulder ******** my trimmer and it takes all the weight off my wrists.

Neutral lug doesn't fit in main panel, wrong type?

Thanks, how does that one mount? Does the screw go through those "legs" and offset the lug to the outside? Nvm, I see that the legs slide into the bussbar from the side like wires. Those will work, thanks!

Neutral lug doesn't fit in main panel, wrong type?

Hey guys, So I'm finishing up the sub panel installation in my garage. I have the breaker (90a) installed in the main panel, but I ran into a problem installing the neutral and ground lugs from the square d kit: The lug doesn't fit on the neutral or ground bars. It's too wide to line up...

    Vevor

I hate that Amazon has fostered this culture of fake reviews and paid shilling. It's taken one of the greatest positives of shopping online and turned it into a negative. Why do they allow it to continue? It's turning their website into a cesspool. If I were on their board of directors that...

    Makita Addiction Thread

I have the 12" top handle version. I've never had any issues with the chain coming off. It sounds like maybe you're overtightened? You just want the adjustment (the little gear with the teeth) set so the chain has "no sag and no drag". Then the plastic handle thing just holds the cover down...

    Looking at subcompact/compact tractors.

The mower deck on my bx is a huge pita to remove and install. I always feel ridiculous running the loader or the tiller with the deck on, but it's not worth the hassle to remove it. Of course that limits access somewhat, and bangs around when raising and lowering 3pt hitch. It's just not...

    Looking at subcompact/compact tractors.

Imo you really don't want a belly mower on a tractor with a loader and backhoe. I understand the swiss army knife appeal, but the hassle of taking the loader/hoe on and off constantly will drive you crazy.

SUPER Thin Wall 14mm Spark Plug Socket Needed - Anyone with a lathe? Will pay!

The correct garage journal answer is: "Weren't you thinking about getting a lathe anyway?".

xTool MetalFab Laser welder & cutter?

I've been seeing YouTube videos with these type of machines. It's usually a couple of scruffy guys in a filthy shop cleaning rust off of old **** and welding up a few coupons. It scares the hell out of me, high power lasers are so dangerous, and these dudes don't seem to respect that risk at...

Organization is a goal, not a destination

I operated the same way for decades. It's only in the last two years I really put in the effort to get organized, I started by finally buying a tool chest and building a bunch of shelves with storage totes. Everything is finally sorted, labelled and accounted for. I can't even tell you what a...

    Generator trouble.

You're getting good general small engine advice here, but for specific info on that generator I would ask on the r/generator subreddit. A lot of guys there have the Westinghouse models. The CO2 sensor is known to be problematic, but I'm not sure what the usual failure is.

    Recommendation for Oscillating Multi Tool

I agree, and that's why I've stayed loyal to Makita for most of my career. 1 battery (18v lxt), dozens of tools. I don't think they get as much credit as they should for maintaining that standard.

    225's DIY CNC Plasma Table!

Cool, I've been looking and planning to build the same design. What are the advantages to using that CNC controller box?

What’s your minimum handyman style toolkit for unexpected stuff at other people’s houses?

I think that's a pretty good list. I would omit the Klein insulated screwdriver (you don't need two quick change screwdrivers), the chisel, and the hinge popper (you won't use these enough to be worth it), and I would add a can of wd-40, a tube of super glue, and a couple of wooden shims.

    Priming new drywall

I sprayed all the new drywall in this house renovation and I'd do the same again. It's so much less work and so much faster than rolling. But it really depends on whether the finished floor is done. It's easy enough to mask windows and electrical boxes, but not the whole floor. I didn't do...

    On-Line Welding course

+1 to Jody from welding tips and tricks. You won't find a better teacher than YouTube anywhere these days, and it's completely free. I think the first step is deciding what you want to make. That will drive what process you'll want to learn. Then get a welder and get to practicing.

In the Market for a Laser Level

The cheap Amazon lasers are surprisingly good. Huepar is one of the bigger names, but I think they're all similar. For home renovation type projects that's all you'll ever need. A cheap photography style tripod comes in handy too.

Is EBay completely worthless or does it just seem that way to me

My biggest concern is how people might mistakenly include those 1099 amounts in their income and end up paying taxes that they don't owe. The "personal items" exception and the mechanism to report it isn't exactly common knowledge. Personally I think if eBay is going to issue 1099s then...
