Wire nuts vs Wago vs push-in

A couple things I like about Wago 221 series lever nuts... It's easy to make connections with different gauge wires, and also solid/stranded combinations. I know you experts can make those work reliably with wire nuts, but for mere mortals like me... When you've got five wires going into a...

"P-U! Why does it smell like puke in here?"

Thank you for this post. I just learned where that smell in my toolbox is coming from! My brother wanted to know if someone hurled in it. I don't mind, because no one takes my tools (for very long).

    Portable Generator not generating.

How are you checking for power? Do you have a multimeter? Use a meter to check all the outlets for power.

    Portable Generator not generating.

Okay, I'll try to be helpful... Did it allegedly generate power when the previous owner put it away? How did you check the breakers? Do you have any electrical diagrams or spare parts listings for it? If so, is there a relay between the generator and the outlets? -- Carl

Will it hurt my vise to bake it?

So, this aircraft stripper... is it a "the longer you let it sit the better" thing, or does the paint harden back up if you let it sit too long?

Will it hurt my vise to bake it?

Thanks to all for the info and suggestions. I soaked it in a 4:1 solution of Simple Green for a week, that got off the dirt, grease, and loose paint. Then I tried electrolysis for a few days and that does great on the rust, but the paint on places with a rough finish isn't going anywhere. Will...

Will it hurt my vise to bake it?

I got an old Craftsman vise from my grandfather. I'm trying to get the paint off of it. Would baking it in an oven for a few hours work? Would it hurt the vise? I need to load test my generator, and I do that with an oven. Since it's going to be running anyway, I thought maybe I could kill two...

    Direct bury vs Conduit???

At least the PVC is on top of the wire... Kind of like really heavy duty "buried wire" warning tape... :)

    Direct bury vs Conduit???

Our house was built in the early 80s. The run from the pole to the meter is buried... and there is PVC conduit. The wire is not inside the conduit, but it is in the same trench. Picturing a conversation something like this took place late on a Friday afternoon... Boss: "You guys get the run...

    Anybody use these things?

Apparently: Lead Free Solder Heat Shrink Terminals For all your RoHS-compliant boat trailer needs... :) Not sure if they're waterproof, though. Don't see the colored ring of adhesive.

    Anybody use these things?

Here's a video on them: Self-Solder **** Splice Connectors They say that the low temperature solder starts to melt at 280F. I'm surprised the insulation doesn't melt. When I use them I like to get the adhesive to shrink down on each side first so that the wires can't slide relative to one...

    Anybody use these things?

They are great for wiring on your salt water boat trailer. I used to have problems at connections, now my sealed LED lighting modules go out first!
