What's a good silver duct tape?

I'm looking for duct tape with the stickiest adhesive. I just ordered 2 rolls of Nashua 300. It arrived today so I compared it to an old roll of Nashua 300 that I've had for years. Not even close! The adhesive from the old roll sticks to anything, tightly. The new roll adhesive is like...

Need help with a stuck engine mount bolt

OK, I see it now. That's freaky! Quite the optical illusion! Remove everything you can around the area. Get in there with a real 220v welder and weld on a quality nut. Soak it in Kroil or PB Blaster and give it a shot. Good luck!

    Thoughts on this Vice?

Blow it apart, blast and paint it, should last for years!

New table complete, now need to organize it

For your welding cables, when I built my welding cart I just cut and welded a couple of pieces of 1/4" round stock to each side to wrap my cables around. Simple to fab and works really great!

Experiences with file cabinets for storage?

I have a HON 2-drawer lateral that holds some metal working tools in the top drawer and woodworking in the bottom. It was a freebie (dumpster acquisition) in excellent condition. It's out of the way and has worked fine for me for years.

My cheap homemade engine stand rotator.

The stand has a 20* angle to it. The weight of the engine pushes the head unit back into the stand.

My cheap homemade engine stand rotator.

I tried to spin my turbo'd 4 cyl on an engine stand and bent a 4' steel bar trying to turn it. I'm about to rebuild a Ford 302 motor and can't imagine trying to turn that over! Solution: Engine rotator. You can buy one with the stand for $200 and up. Not my cup of tea! I'd rather build one...

    Vise Recommendation for under $100

For car and lawn mower work the smallest vise you want would be a 4". That's jaw width. Bigger is always better but the price goes up exponentially. The off shore stuff will last for a few years but will eventually fall apart! Go American. That would be used via CL/Offer up/Facebook/etc...

    stripping steel door

Sandblast it. I have two steel security doors on my house that were starting to rust after 20 years. I painted the house so the doors needed to be addressed. I blasted them then sprayed them with single stage urethane automotive paint. They came out very nice. It took about 30 minutes to...

Yard waste can on garbage day. But it sure does make it heavy to wheel out to the curb!

Is this HF $69 vise a good starter vise? Or should I spend more elsewhere.

Cheap Chinese junk! Don't waste your money. A good vise should last a lifetime! Keep your eyes peeled on CL or OfferUp. Look for a Made in USA quality piece. You'll be glad you did! They're out there. Paid $65 for this Wilton cadet 4" off of CL then gave it a light resto...…… Also...

    Old Wilton vise

Almost looks like my 1956 Wilton Cadet. Probably a newer version. You can find the date of manufacture underneath the moveable jaw, stamped on the drift key.

14 inch milwaukee chop saw just quit!

Yes, they are there. Here's my restored 6175. Pull the 4 screws at the louvered rear cover and remove...… Once the cover is off, you'll see the black brush caps. Remove the black caps with a flathead screwdriver and the brushes will slide right out.....

    I got a car capsule!

We have a fairly dry climate here in California. From the CarCapsule website...… The CarCapsule™ does not eliminate humidity it eliminates condensation. The fan exchanges the air by volume 3-4 times an hour. This constant air change and air flow does not allow hot air and cold masses to meet...

    I got a car capsule!

It's actually pretty cool! At the end of summer I'm gonna start the '54 project so I need to get the roadster out of the shop (2-car garage). I plan to erect one of those $200 Costco portable garages and store the roadster in there, inside the car capsule, over the winter. Couldn't pass up...

Hear we go, should I buy a new bench drill press?

All on CL and well under your price point. If the chuck spins true, no bearing whine and the motor isn't smoking, you should be good to go for a number of years. Especially if you're not using it professionally. https://harrisburg.craigslist.org/tls/d/jonestown-drill-press/6902461197.html...

    Torch buyers guide

Keep your eye on the local CL, Offer Up or Letgo. There are decent torch sets out there. Picked up this set off of CL for $250. Full, owner-owned tanks (with documentation). Complete welding/cutting set with everything. Keep lookin'!

    Small garage sale score.

I've been looking for a portable air tank to fill up tires on some of the dilapidated cars I pick up. Found these at a garage sale down the street. They wanted $20 for the tank and $16 for the nut & bolt containers. I gave 'em $25 for everything. Brought it home and put the nut & bolt...
