    Quincy Compressor

Mac, thanks for the feedback. How about $75? Do you happen to know anything about it? Is it a single or two stage, model #, etc?

    Quincy Compressor

I'm considering purchasing a used "Quincy" compressor. Info from the seller is that it is a single phase 1.5 HP motor and 60 gal tank. Seller says it spins freely but won't kick on. I know it could be any number of things but given the seller's asking price, it may be worth the drive and...

Materials for garage ceiling--Metal VS 4x8 panels

I went through this same decision and went with metal. I'm in the process of putting it up now and, so far, am happy with the choice. I bought a drywall lift at HF as well as the metal shears and it has made life pretty easy doing it all by myself.

Metal Ceiling Install Around Attic Ladder

All, I'm in the process of putting Pro-Rib metal panel on the ceiling of my shop. Plan is to do the ceiling first, butted right up to the wall plate. I'll follow that up by installing the OSB walls and pushing them right up to the steel ceiling panels. I'm struggling with how to install the...

How to remove concrete from metal siding

Yes they are. And I've done plenty of time in third-world $hit holes to ensure my family is free to continue to have these sorts of problems.

How to remove concrete from metal siding

All, Thanks for all of the replies. I tried some apple cider vinegar last night and it loosened the concrete just enough so that it could come off with a plastic putty knife. It's tedious work, but I've got more time than money. I may try the citric acid or one of the other commercial...

How to remove concrete from metal siding

Unfortunately, I'm a little too far down the road to be going back on the builder of his concrete guy. The concrete has been there quite a while (close to a year) and now that I've got a few minutes of breathing room, thought I'd make some improvements to the shop - by starting with some...

How to remove concrete from metal siding

All, When my shop was built, the concrete contractor got some concrete on the metal siding that, for the life of me, cannot seem to get off. Some of the concrete is smeared, as though they tried to wipe it off, and the other is splatter. How can I get this off without ruining the finish on...

    240V to middle of shop

Thanks for all the replies and good ideas. I'm always looking at pictures of these nicely laid out shops and never see the cords or dust collection hose ran to the machines. I'm still not entirely sure which way I will go but I will have to run dust collection as well.

    240V to middle of shop

All, Quick question. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a new table saw that runs at 240V. I want to put the saw in the middle of my 24x32 pole building. Concrete floor with no outlets in the middle. How do you recommend I get power to the machine? Walls are exposed and I can run the...

    WaterLine to Workshop

I ran PEX. A single run with no connections to fail. It was probably 18" deep or better. No issues with freezing this past winter in the Kansas City area.

    Blown in cellulose insulation

Sounds like most folks are using bats. In my pole building, I have 6x6 posts. I've put up my interior walls (2x4) flush with the inside face of the 6x6 posts. I did get the building wrap put on the exterior before the metal went on. Before I posed this question, I got started with...

    Blown in cellulose insulation

Since the ceiling isn't finished, I was thinking of putting up OSB on the walls and blowing in the insulation from the top of the wall. Any thoughts on this approach? Also, would you guys advise blown in fiberglass over the cellulose? Sent from my LG-V410 using Tapatalk

    Blown in cellulose insulation

Has anyone done blown in cellulose insulation in the walls of their pole building? If so, how do you think it compares to bats? Was thinking about doing this myself and, if my calculations are correct, can be done cheaper than bats. The part I'm uncertain of though is, since I just have the...

    Framing around doors and windows

All, Thanks for the input. To close this out, I did as some suggested, put in extension jambs to bring the window and door jambs out flush with the inside of the 6x6 posts. The idea of framing the wall is to support the OSB that will eventually be going up once I've done running electrical.

    Framing around doors and windows

I've got a 24x32 pole building up and am now framing for the interior walls. I'm doing 2.4 walls framed flush with the inner side of the posts. When the building went up, the windows and doors were framed in but are not flush with each other (i.e. windows and doors on same vertical plane) nor...
