Versus Battle: Tekton/Wilde vs KTC Combo Pliers

It took 3 months but my KTC PJ-150 combo pliers from Japan finally came in. Comparing them to the Tekton(Wilde) 37122 pliers, which excluding shipping cost are about the same price, the fit, ergonomics, finish, tooth cut and aesthetics are much better on the KTC’s. KTC is the winner.

Unpopular opinion: GS made Craftsman Multi Pliers CMHT81715 are the best.

My personal gripes about certain countries aren’t about anything more than production quality, their ethics and government ownership that make it difficult for companies in capitalistic countries to compete and leads to their demise. However, when something good comes along, it would be...

    Blackhawk Tool Sets

I just ran across several made in USA Blackhawk mechanics tool sets on ebay and some appear to still be available on Proto’s website. Are these sold anywhere other than the amazon, ebay, etc? They seem to be offered at a decent price. I’d rather buy this than whatever is offered at HD, Lowes...

    Armstrong 9pc 3/8” Deep 12pt SAE Socket Set 15-326A

I bought this NOS USA made Armstrong 9pc deep socket set off of Cripes for a decent price. If you’re looking for some SAE deep sockets, there’s still some left at Cripes. However, I really want the Metric version of these. If the SAE set has a 15-326A model number, what would the metric be...

    Vessel 830-MG4 Ratcheting Screwdriver

I purchased this older but new vessel screwdriver despite the not so great reviews and received it yesterday straight from Japan. The reviews were right, its not that good. Something with the ratcheting mechanism is off and doesn’t have the same pressure against the pawls after a few clicks. It...

    Crescent/Cooper Tools Screwdrivers

I needed some pozidrive drivers and found these NOS Crescent Cooper tools drivers. The handles are small but the fit and finish of the shafts look great. Can anyone help give some additional info on these? Metal type, OEM, or experience using them? Is it a quality item?

    Multi-Bit Screwdrivers - Wiha/Milwaukee/Ace (Best Way Tools)

I have these 3 multi-bit 11/10 in 1 drivers with Wiha most recent purchased. The Taiwanese made Milwaukee is the one Ive had the longest and for me I actually find the Milwaukee handle better than the other 2. I may change my mind on Wiha once I use it more. The Wiha was made in Minnesota and...

Pratt Read drivers at Menards - almost gone!

Local Menard’s only had a few Pratt Read made MasterForce driver sets left with new inventory made off shore. It appeared to be the same with individual drivers sold as well. Replacements are probably made by GS. This seems to coincide with a post from another member on an SK thread. The new...

SK Closing Sycamore Plant - Moving to Pennsylvania

https://sktools.com/sk-tools-acquisition-update-august-2021 So Ideal is probably keeping the plant but I wonder what else they’re keeping? Are all the presses, machines, heat treating getting shipped to that shop vac plant in PA? Ideal and SK had a lot of overlap with pliers and screwdriver...

Vessel GO-SAI driver bits - double ended & same size?

I just purchased the Vessel stubby ratcheting screwdriver and of course needed bits that fit the driver because of the larger anvil its made for. The bits I bought included double end long #2 and a short #3 with the same size on each end. Why wouldn’t they just make the bits different sizes on...

SK Tools Customer Service & Warranty Replacement

I believe I discussed this on another thread but I just wanted to follow up and mention that SK finally responded to my emails asking for a replacement on my LP90 3/8” ratchet (due to over grinding that left the back plate lip sticking out). They were very nice in their reply and immediately...

Pliers & Adjustable Wrenches - What am I missing?

Attached are images of the various pliers and adjustable wrenches I own. I believe I have most of what a DIY’er would need but not all. Of all of the brands I own, I like the steel strength of Klein, the feel of Knipex and the versatility of Tsunoda. As for best bang for the buck - I have to...

Klein D213-9NETPSEN - great deal on Amazon.

I found what appear to be a great deal on these linesman’s pliers on Amazon at like half the price. I placed an order on them but I cant find info detailing what the PSEN portion of the model name eludes to. Klein Tools 9 in. High-Leverage Side-Cutting Pliers with Tape Puller...

Gedore Ratcheting Screwdriver & Huang Buffalo Co Ltd

Huang Buffalo Co Ltd makes tools for several brands which can be ordered by anyone. For example, this Gedore Ratcheting screwdriver was made by them in Taiwan. You can browse through their website and see what else looks familiar. I’m still looking for the manufacturer of the Klein, Sata, old...

GongMaw Taiwan - OEM Locking Plier Manufacturer (Milwaukee)

Found this video of the Taiwan company making Milwaukee locking pliers. Interesting process; I wonder how the Malco factory stacks up. Has to be a considerable difference since Knipex cost half and Milwaukee a 1/3 of the price.
