I believe I have an identical roll-away, or at least very close to it. I don't have the shelf, and had to remove the handle on the right to fit it in its little parking place.
For anyone interested in the early days of the Torchmate company, a brief history can be found here:

You need a laser of at least 1,500 watts to cut steel. Such lasers must be water cooled, and the plumbing becomes difficult for a small table. Also, the cost of such lasers is over the top.
I mounted a 65 watt air cooled laser on a 4' x 6' table a number of years ago. The accuracy was...
There was a big hill I could never get all the way up. I eventually fried my motor and replaced it with a Cushman Eagle motor. Then I could make it to the top. Wish I had kept it - they're going for $5K on eBay now.
I was cutting out a Harley logo on my little CNC plasma table the other day, and for some reason remembered the Cushman Scooter I got as a 13 year old. I thought I'd try my hand at it.
Re: Added a Shroud to Grinder
I threw together a plywood cover for the grinder, which I hope will partially contain the debris and soften the noise a bit. It lifts off in seconds for belt changes, etc.
Motor is a TEFC unit so I don't think it will be affected as long as there is plenty of air...
Many, if not most, 2" x 72" grinder owners are into knife making. I'm just going to use it as needed in various metalworking projects. The long belt has a bit more time to cool down than a shorter belt, and the 2" width requires less h.p. than a wider belt.
I paid about $350 for the kit as I...
This started as a kit I bought on-line from Brian House. It included some laser cut brackets, hardware, and plans. I supplied everything else. Power is a 2 h.p. Baldor 3 phase motor and a VFD running off 230 Volt single phase current.
It's a fairly simple project, the toughest part being...
I agree with your idea of getting maximum use from a mag drill. If you mount it on a stand like a drill press, you can still yank it off and use it in the field.
I just purchased this compound table in eBay. I've never seen anything like it. Judging from the the fact that it has grease ******* and nice looking micrometer dials, I'm hoping that it will be a fairly good piece.
Does anybody know who the manufacturer might be and the approximate age?
Think of the low cost CNC plasma tables (not to mention any brands) as being the Harbor Freight equivalent. Harbor Freight sells a lot of equipment, and many people are happy with it.
I used to tell people, particularly those in business, that they would be better off buying a finished machine...
VPD66:
You make a good point!
I used to own the Torchmate company, so throwing another small one together myself was almost as much fun as using it. I used Origa linear slides and cassettes, which are far more precise and accurate than anything that uses tubing and rollers (also more...
We've had the opportunity to see vises, tool boxes, old tools, etc. What machine tools do you have (lathes, mills, drill presses, band saws, etc.)? Be sure to include vintage machinery, restored or otherwise. The more photos, the better!
Maybe $600 for the table itself. The software and electronics cost anywhere from $500 to several thousand, depending on how turn-key it is and how many bells and whistles you want. Also, you need a Windows based laptop, a plasma cutter preferably with a machine torch, and a reasonable size...
The first one shown was built around 2002. I rolled it outside the garage to use it, which solved the plasma dust and smoke problem.
I built the second one a few years ago. It sits just outside my basement door. The compressor, plasma cutter, and computer are just inside the door, so the...
The table height adjusters were made from some torch holder assemblies I bought off eBay. I only wanted the torch holders (2nd photo) themselves for a couple of small CNC plasma tables I was building, but it all came as a package for next to nothing. Bought new, the stuff is quite expensive...
Cast Iron Column for Grinder Stand
I am putting together a support stand for a 1 hp 8" Jet Grinder. The tube I have is an old 2 3/4" x 31" long cast iron bench drill press column.
The base and the mounting plate being used are plenty beefy, but I wonder if the cast iron column is up to the...
