    Rave for Hunter ceiling fans

The last Hunter I installed was in 1980 or 81. Cast iron housing, oil reservoir on the top for the bearings. They hadn't changed since the very early 1900's. I took a couple of old ones from an bank building erected in 1906. Still working and just like the new one I put in the house...

Hard starting and Over Run fix of Generac 16kW model 0052540

It may vary place to place, but mine is much lower than that. Measured in inches of water, so less than 2 psi.

    Question About Flood Damaged Tools

Ditto on the fresh water wash, Hot if possible. Then derust with your choice of chemicals, I use white vinegar, Citric acid, phosphoric acid etc. Then immediately scrub the black off, rinse and dry (hot water rinse makes dry faster) then WD40 followed by one of the fancy rust preventatives...

How hard is it to change car tires yourself?

Car tires, 60 or higher aspect ratio, are easier than golf cart/mower tires. Well, except for that balance thing. I just did two 12x12-12 mower tires. Used two ratchet straps to compress and push beads out to the wheel rim. Remove the valve core and apply air using an adapter on the air...

What stuff still requires SAE even if your doing all metric work?

During the transition lots of JD stuff had both. The little 318 garden tractor was the worst. Because they were getting older when I got interested and had already been worked on by a PO, you never knew where he/she put the bolts back, right place or not?

    Vinyl Siding Question.

Water level. Cheap, dead accurate and fast. Pic for explanation but you can use a garden hose with short clear pieces on each end to get to any length you need. Just mark the water level on the tube and transfer the measurement. A drop of food color in each end makes is easier to see...

Heck, my Great-grand-kids are telling me that! Enjoy.

    Maxjax wont lift level

Is the car centered between the uprights? Looks way offset to the right, but could be the angle.

Adding Electric Reheat to Existing Duct

I've often wondered why we need to. Seems fairly simple to design heat pumps driven by a variable speed dc motor. And DC resistance heat from battery should also be simple. Of course using both AC grid power and site-generated DC would be a challenge.

Driving the "output" side of a lawnmower electric clutch?

Just watch the direction of rotation. Some (all?) of those drive through short springy metal links which are angled so they a pulled, not pushed. They will work either way, but pushing really shortens the life.

    100yr-old copper pipes

My guess is that you have a low spot in the drain that holds a pool of water and 'sludge' that grows is the absence of running water. And, it has nothing at all to do with the copper supply lines. I know of no conditions where copper will create a situation like that. Copper failure...

    100A Subpanel Wire Size?

I haven't encountered this is a few years, but about 15 years ago the local AHJ (small city in OK), not allow aluminum inside a building. I had used 4/0 from the weatherhead to the panel on a remodel. Made me take it out and replace with copper. Knee-jerk reaction to the aluminum wiring...

    Push Notifications

But, I understood the ask was for current and future use. It appears that it will ask every stinkin' time. Not cool. I've even chosen the option to never receive push notifications. Still asked every time.

Proto 90 tooth ratchets = no warranty.

I'd try contacting this address: [email protected]. My experience with Craftsman and Proto is that any question posed here will be answered by the same corporate team. Much more customer focused than the individual brands. Just state your issue, short and sweet, and let them respond.

    Welding Helmet question

It doesn't sound right, but I've found that I need more light, even if it seems that glare is the problem. Setting at 9 or 10 when MIG welding, and a good light source focused on the weld area, may be two so that there are no shadows. Works for me. Just so you know, I use an even cheaper...

Metal car port style building in Middle Tennessee?

I wish I had known then what I know now. The interior would be fairly easy to finish on those square tube buildings if on 48" centers, not 60. And I'll bet the companies I bought from would have welded in a couple of extras if I'd asked and paid for them. They use 5' because it fits the...

Help me negotiate this Snap On Roll Cart

Depends, If a lien has been filed on the product under the UCC, by s/n, it could be repo-ed. At least in some states, they all have their own rules. But if it's only an owed amount with no record of the S/N, it would be the sellers problem. Or more precisely, the dealers problem!

    Electrical Code - Garage

In my area, the rural homes are often served by an electrical coop. Being rural there are ofter multiple buildings. The way service is normally provided is by placing the meter and disconnect on a pole located on the property. Then each building gets it's own panel, but they have a common...

Compressor pumps alwaus lead me here... so about speedaire...

Good pump. I have one on a champion 80gal/5hp compressor. It'll run my sanders and gun without a problem. I bought it used with a bad single phase motor and replaced the motor with a 5hp/2ph Baldor.
