Need a crescent wrench adjusting screw

Thank you jmm. I'm kind of weird in that I feel guilty putting someone out, having to travel to get me a part. I appreciate it though. I might take you up on it, but before I have you go anywhere, I will try Granger. Hopefully they will have it. If not, that would be very kind of you to pick one...

Need a crescent wrench adjusting screw

I just inherited 12" Proto adjustable that is missing the adjustment and shaft screw that goes with it. The wrench is in good shape and it would be a shame to toss it for such a simple fix. I guess I should contact Proto and see what they say.

Good tools Made in China (PRC) ...it is for real..;-)

Good to know. I give Taiwan a pass, because they arn't a communist country(for now) making a killing off of a free country. Also, Taiwan seems to have higher quality products (Refer to the recent Gear Wrench thread).

Good tools Made in China (PRC) ...it is for real..;-)

Back in I think it was 2004 or 5 I was at Home Depot and was shocked to see Hilti products and a Hilti rep in the tool department. I was used to Hilti being a high end truck brand and couldn't believe they were selling in a box store. So I picked up some of their products and I inspected them as...

Help cleaning up these pliers with lettering on..snap on

That's comforting.;) I wonder how they do that. This has happened to all my black handled Cman pliers. Now I wish I would have just gone with Channelocs back then before they started doing this to theirs. From now on I'm just going to pick up the NOS stuff on ebay.

Help cleaning up these pliers with lettering on..snap on

X2 I did this just the other night and found out that my side cutter are klein, but you have to have a light hand or you will wipe the name away. I strongly agree with woody 73. The brand name and coo is very important to me. I would rather have a high quality tool stamped with the brand name...

    Heat Shrink on ratchet/wrench shafts

Different strokes for different folks. You will find a varying opinion to the degree that everyone takes care of their tools. The most important thing to remember is to do what ever makes you happy. If shrink tube does it for you than go for it. I take care of my tools, but I do not go nuts if I...

I heard on the news the other day that it has been really hot in Arizona lately. That heat will mess with your mind.:)

    Craigslist Score? How'd I do?

I don't like them much either, but other times I love them. My reasoning is because it isn't a tool made to last. I see corded tools that are from the fifties all the time, but cordless tools are rendered useless when their battery packs/chargers go bad and the pack design changes that occur all...

What to do with old hammers?

If you are going to do any metal work you can shape it into some sort of dolly that you secure in a vice.

    it's 2013 garage sale season!...

Cool, thank you to you and all the other poster that helped point me in the direction of new pads. I just figured I was s.o.l.. That is why I love this site so much, but it does tend to get me to spend money that I was not intending on spending. In the end though I have more tools. Wooo whooo.:o

What to do with old hammers?

Body hammers are my weakness, but the price of them and the scarcity other than ebay keeps me from getting out of hand. I will only buy if it is a good deal. Therefore I only have four of them. A Martin fiberglass, Snapon fiberglass, Snapon wood and a Herbrand. All like new and I probably have...

    Quincy vs Champion compressors

I had a compressor that looked like this, but was a Quincy and had two motors and cylinders at each end. I got it off of a remodel job I did at a college. It looked brand new and only ran the thermostats for a few years. Thing was cherry. I offered the superintendent of the job a $100 for it. He...
