    attaching to fiber cement board...

I have fiber cement board as siding on my garage... CemPlank to be specific. There are electrical boxes attached to the outside but I have no idea how they are attached. Now I have a cable box that has been wire tied to the electric conduit running up from underground. I find that a messy...

    whole house water filters?

I have a whole house DuPure system here in Texas. Additionally, there is a drinking water spout by the kitchen sink with 3 additional filters under the sink that filters the already filtered water. I like it... it just works in the background with me adding a bag of salt to the brine tank...

    Lets see your workbench

No pictures, we already know what they look like, but I bought a Gladiator 6' maple top work bench for my garage. Man, that thing is ROCK SOLID! I almost had a heart attack dragging it out of the vehicle, assembling and flipping it upright and moving into place.

    Starting with Light Bulbs!?!

I put 1 - 100 watt LED bulb in my 20 x 18 garage and was amazed at the results with just that one bulb. No wait for startup as with some CFLs but that may not be an issue for everyone. I have replaced all my kitchen lights with LEDs and have the pendants on a dimmer... love it. I might go...

Electric bill went up from 123.00 to 811.00

Sounds like my mess with Time-Warner Cable. They claimed I never returned the modem and cable box when I moved and billed me for both. Fortunately, I had proof... do they think we are complete idiots? ...apparently.

Anyone in Houston about to do a porcelain tile floor?

I am in Cibolo (outskirts of San Antonio) and been waffling for a long time what to put on my garage floor. I like the idea of porcelain since I feel that adds real value to the house compared to the plastic tiles. I also have a cement deck out back that I would get done at the same time. I'm...

    Fence...

I have this new wood fence around the property. It is not cedar, but some kind of white wood... likely fir. Most owners here in Texas allow their fences to deteriorate into a gray finish after the sun and weather takes its toll. If possible I would like to keep my fence with the natural wood...

    New job as dealership tech

Don't forget to screw on those oil filters correctly and make sure they are secure. Gets tedious after a number of jobs in a day. My dad took his Chrysler in for an oil change before a family trip and thought all was well. We get 10 miles out of town and the oil light goes off. 3 guys from...

Roxul in ceiling? Or waste of $$?

The only downside is that fitting Roxul up in the ceiling will be more work given the cutting and fitting of the pieces than doing blown-in... which is a 2-person job.

    Stationary Genset Install

At our data center we have a large diesel generator, automatic xfer switch and a couple of large UPS units. When the city power cuts out the UPS units carry the load temporarily until the generator kicks in and stabilizes.

Another Sears Store Closing In Landover Maryland

Sad to see this happening. I used to be a regular shopper at their stores in Canada. Move to San Antonio and was really disappointed when I visited the Sears here... not the same vibrant and busy Sears I had experienced in Canada.
