    Outlawmws, i had that book also (40 power tools,), and also had a bit later one called 60 power tools you can build. Both were hard cover, neat reading and some ideas are still viable today.

    Thanks, i forgot to ask also, the crank handle on the bed end is that what moves the carriage? I have a Wade CAV that is like that.

    I see the odd one posted on the net, yes definetly before the 1920's, one thing about them you end up with legs like "popeye" !!! Lol (Back years ago there were lots of different pedal powered machines, lathes, grinders, scroll saws etc, never ever heard of a table saw though some real old ones...

    Those "OSCAR" brand wrenches i'm sure were made in Taiwan about 25 years ago. Back then there were all sorts of tools, machines,(drill presses etc) imported into Canada and labelled "OSCAR" or "Oscar's". I haven't seen any new products with that brand for quite some time. If i remember...

    Check "Plaza Machinery" he has tons of good used stuff, been in business for quite awhile with a very good reputation, also carries lots of used parts. Most all his prices are listed on line.

    Wood lathe ID help

    Have no clue on the ID of the lathe, Could it be a shop built? The press looks to me like it had a 1/2 inch drill clamped in it, they were common years ago. The pics are kind of fuzzy to me anyway.

    I have a few of both old sets and buy them at every garage sale i come across. Very durable good wrenches, my favourite though is the maple leaf stampings, there are still lots of those old CTC wrenches in use.

    Looks great!! I have that same box i found about 12 years ago, but mine is branded "Marquette". I have given it to my grandson now with a set of starter tools in it for him.
