    Preparing for rough-in inspection

You could also use the emt as your ground, then you'd only have a pigtail from the box screw tied to pigtails for the outlets. That wouldn't help much in the boxes, but less wire to pull. I had a couple of boxes that were pretty full early on, so I stopped splicing where wires were simply...

    Preparing for rough-in inspection

I did exposed electrical, and only had a final - no rough in required. I was more worried about the electrical inspection than any other inspection (I did all of the work myself), but it was a breeze. Hope yours goes as well.

    Garage Build

I agree with the under-slab conduit. 2" pvc underground corner to corner would have been much easier and cheaper than what I had to do after the fact.

What is the normal time for skilled electriction to wire a 4" 2 gang duplex outlets

Re: What is the normal time for skilled electriction to wire a 4" 2 gang duplex outle You don't do it all the time (an assumption on my part). I'm using the exact same setup. I haven't timed myself, but if I did one start to finish, it would probably be about 30 minutes. I'm an amateur...

Mounting LED Lights to gabled ceiling?

Your pitch is a bit steeper than mine, which is at 4/12. The center section starts at 14' and goes up from there. I mounted directly to the ceiling. These are high bays, and the distance to the ceiling makes the angle inconsequential. None of this may matter if your ceiling is lower. The...

Best garage door openers for the money?

I have a Liftmaster 8500 and love it. I bought it for my high lift configuration, but it's extremely quiet, and I like the features.

My Mr. Cool DIY Arrived Today!

You were correct. I got an email from Ingrams saying that the lineset shipped today. The driver delivered the air handler a bit ago.

My Mr. Cool DIY Arrived Today!

I didn't hear from the trucking company this morning so I called them. They said that they were delivering the air handler tomorrow. Good thing I'm not planning on installing it this weekend.

Same building subpanel fed via EMT - separate ground required?

It will save a bit on wire and conduit size (100' between panels), so I'll stick with what I've been doing. If I'd planned ahead I'd have run PVC corner to corner underground, but that's the cost of using amateurs (i.e. doing it myself). Thanks!

Same building subpanel fed via EMT - separate ground required?

I'm going to be adding a subpanel to my shop in the opposite corner from the "main" subpanel. It will be fed through EMT. Do I need to include a separate ground, or will the EMT suffice like it does for outlets and fixtures?

My Mr. Cool DIY Arrived Today!

Well, the shipping company arrived today with two condensers and no air handlers. Thankfully the address for another shipment (local) was on the second condenser, and the driver verified that there are two air handlers sitting at the dock in their warehouse to have been loaded for a delivery...

My Mr. Cool DIY Arrived Today!

I ordered a 36K DIY a few weeks ago while they were on backorder, and it shipped via carrier yesterday via freight carrier (Averitt). Looks like I need to change direction and run the power for the unit.

    The Best Light Fixture Ever!

I'm finished wiring up 12 of these high bay fixtures in the center section of my workshop: https://www.beeslighting.com/MLH-12L-UV-50K-D10 I spoke with Bee's engineer about the bracket that's shown in the plans for mounting to a box, and he said that the manufacturer hasn't started making them...

    Price of osb way up!

3 phase to 1 phase - VFD vs SPC vs DPS

Another option is an RPC (rotary phase converter). Configured properly, they allow for better balance between the phases and will give full HP.

    10x10 door

I ordered mine from https://www.doorson-line.com, which is owned by Amarr. Mine is 10x10, insulated, rated for our local wind loads and was configured for high lift. I installed everything but the springs myself. I didn't relish the idea of winding them at that height, so hired a guy to do that.

That Bridgeport WILL come out one way or another...

Your friend should be able to easily pull it out with the winch on the wrecker assuming that the stairs and your sled can handle the weight. It's probably more like 1,200 lbs, for what it's worth.

MRCOOL DIY Mini Split, Seriously, I Think...

FYI, I called Ingram's and they were not able to give an estimate on backordered units. The person I spoke with gave me a best guess of 2 months. That was all I needed, so that I could plan next steps. I certainly have 2 months+ of finishing work to keep me busy. (Edit: I forgot to mention...
