Opinions on the cheap HF torque wrench?

I use HF’s 3/8” digital torque adapter to check all my 1/2” and under torque wrenches. Also use it for setting injectors in mechanical Cummins even though I have a SO inch dial torque wrench with light. I think the HF is more accurate even though it’s a lb. torque wrench.

    Refrigerant Recovery Machines

I googled mastercool 69100 and the 2 page pdf instruction link was 4th from top, but I can’t figure out how to copy link to here. Never had a problem on other forums. Anyway, it recovers, filters, and removes any oil into separate container. When it’s done a vacuum is pulled on system, of...

    Refrigerant Recovery Machines

I’ve got the mastercool 69100 kit ( I think) on the service truck. Works great. Has everything you need but a scale. Bought scale at HF. For automotive use I think I gave about $750 3-4 years ago.

WD-40 aerosol can that actually sprays

IMO wd40 is great for immediately drying damp 12 -24 volt electrical connections and wet or damp ignition components. Other than a water dispersant (wd) it’s useless.

    Plasma cutter trouble shooting

X3 or 4 on air pressure. My Miller has a filter screen on air that causes your exact problems when partially plugged. Took me a couple of years to find it. As long as **** in filter was dry everything was ok, but when it got a little damp from incoming compressed air everything went south

Anyone ever built a geared engine stand?

I put a 2500lb hand winch with brake on an existing stand in the eighties. Bought 6 or so of the winches from Northern Tool I believe. Don’t remember gear ratio. I had an order to build some pickup truck bed cherry pickers and had a winch left over. Was a simple install, cheap and worked...

    Air compressor troubleshooting?

I always set the regulator with the trigger pulled on the air gun at the end of the airline I’m using. I have some guns ( 1/2 “ thru 1”) that run at 90lbs and some I run at 120lbs. Sometimes I have 25’ of 3/8” line and sometimes 100’ of 1/2” line.

    Exhaust welding advise.

Yeah, when we were kids, we used coat hangers for filler rod. Brings back memories. Pumping stock mufflers full gun grease to get that glass pack sound.

    Exhaust welding advise.

I’ve got a stitch welding attachment for ac stick welding machine. Bought it years ago. Don’t know if they’re still available or not. Eastwood use to have them. Mainly used in the day for body shop panel welding. I use mine to weld exhaust pipe on car. You can bend rod and weld top of pipe and...

Welding on a new aluminum trailer.

I’ve owned aluminum livestock trailers since the early seventies and aluminum tank trailers since the sixties. Had to learn aluminum welding out of necessity and got very good at it over the years. Stick, mig, and tig. If you have a dc stick welder, I suggest starting there with aluminum rod...

    Water line leak

Can you hook air pressure up to it? According to some on this forum, it should blow up and leave a hole big enough to drive your backhoe into at the area of leak.

Which one of you has my thread gauge?

My blue handled “dykes” were missing for three years. They’re an unbelievable tool. Never dull, never rust, fit my hand perfectly. No name just a number. Don’t know where I got them or when. Has to be over fifty years. My children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren ( I’m very old) all knew...

    Pressure testing a water line

I’d let it set for a full 24 hrs., the do test again. Have you got a really good gauge? When I hydro test a line for my own purposes, I chart the pressure for first 4-5 hrs, then let it set for 24 hrs. Small pressure drop like you have so far would just be a few drops, low weather front combined...

    Propane tank for air compressor?

I don’t know how many portable air tanks I’ve made out of old propane tanks. I fill them with water and a few ounces of muriatic acid and let sit for a couple of days to kill oder. I’ve welded in many 1/2” and 3/4” pipe collars for access. Probably shouldn’t have mentioned that as the safety...
