    Shop light switch wiring

I just finished building a 24 X 44 detached garage. I did all the electrical myself (properly permitted/passed) and finally settled on what I'll show here. Now that it's all finished I'm happy with the setup. I ran 12-2 romex from panel (20 amp GFCI breaker) to just right of man door. I...

    Maytag Washer

On my 15 year old Maytag washer, new Brake Pad kit solved the squeak during agitation phase. Also get the silicone grease the kit requires.

I need help! Issue with GFCI breakers being tripped for no obvious reason.

Yes they are, on main panel only, although the pic I posted does not show that. Ground and neutral at main are connected by a strap at the bottom of the 40 slot main panel. See also post 3 this thread: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/electrical-faqs.356460/

I need help! Issue with GFCI breakers being tripped for no obvious reason.

I have 2 single pole GFCI that are the ones that are giving me trouble. Feeding the 12 outlets. I have a combo GFCI/AFCI that is not giving me trouble. (County failed me on my final inspection and made me GFCI protect the 9 outlets I installed on my ceiling for lights. Combo GFCI/AFCI was...

I need help! Issue with GFCI breakers being tripped for no obvious reason.

Thanks for all the responses. MM08822's response got me thinking more. Below is pic of my model box except mine has another set of equipment grounding terminals to right. (Where the blue line is.) The green screw PCustoms pointed out bonds the Ground line in to the enclosure itself...

I need help! Issue with GFCI breakers being tripped for no obvious reason.

Yes, over time I've run a shop vac on both circuits without issues. If it continues much longer and I can't figure out why, I think I'll replace the first receptacle in the chain to GFCI and daisy chain all the others, and change panel breaker to NON-GFCI.

I need help! Issue with GFCI breakers being tripped for no obvious reason.

Hi, I have an issue with GFCI breakers being tripped for no obvious reason. I'm hoping someone has seen this before and has a solution or suggestions. My main service comes from a transformer about 60 feet away, into a 200 Amp panel on the side of my house. I had that panel upgraded 15 years...

What did your wiring cost? Trying to get a consensus...

For what it's worth, I just wired a detached garage, and attached carport converted to a man cave. Told the GC I want to do it myself. I spent +- $3K on wire/boxes/etc and I'd guess I saved easily $10-15K that I'd have been charged by a electrician. I'm very aware of NEC codes and did...

Pouring a concrete slab over an existing slab

Price - I got a bid for this carport work and my new 24x44 detached garage together, so I don't know how much this carport concrete cost by itself. As for total cost.... I'm spending my kids' inheritance. :) I'll attach a couple of pics for the other questions. They did a saw cut about...

Pouring a concrete slab over an existing slab

A new footer was rebar-ed/poured at far right edge and concrete for slab was poured Feb 11. Thickness was 4" to 6" as the old was sloped back to front. (L to R in this pic) New floor height matches rest of the house. New concrete directly on old. No other prep. They also poured a new stoop...

AFCI related question - Multi wire branch circuit

In 2011 I ran 12-3 romex from my main panel to an attached garage area that I would eventually convert into living space (family room). At that time I installed a 20 amp 2-pole breaker (not AFCI, not GFCI) for this run to pass inspection, despite it being an unused circuit. Eventually is now...

    Brake system power/pressure bleeders

I had good results using something like this.... Google "vacuum brake bleeder" Requires an ample supply of compressed air. $32 @ HF
