    Cut the sheets a quarter inch smaller than the stud bay and use spray foam cans to make them tight. The resulting assembly will be air tight too which is even better than just insulation.

    Regular hat channel is going to be very light gauge and probably different dimensions. Are you using this to attach something else to the outside or is it a rubrail. Will it be covered when in use?

    Best way to paint metal.

    Dont use an everyday home roller. Get a foam roller. If you need a better finish do the roll and tip method (roll out the paint and use the tips of a paintbrush to smooth things out) Search DTM paint (direct to metal) Sherwin and Benjamin both make acceptable ones

    I like OSB. Like nadogail said it will give shear strength but I also like being able to hang things anywhere I want.
