Looking for workbench thread or ideas

I have 2' wide benches permanently attached to the walls of my shop that total 24 feet in length. However, my favorite bench is a 4'x4' bench on locking swivel casters, with storage underneath, that also doubles as an out feed table for my table saw. This bench could be pushed against a wall...

REALLY old school foot powered table saw

My grandfather operated a custom furniture and cabinet shop in the SF bay area from about the late teens until 1955. His first table saw was foot powered. I couldn't help but wonder if this was his old saw as its present location is just a short drive from his old shop. There apparently were...

Does Grizzly EVER have a good sale?

Grizzly is having a Christmas sale November 1st through December 31st. I just placed an order for a G0771 table saw. Normally $795 marked down to $695 on their website, but advertised in Popular Woodworking Magazine (Nov. 2016) at $655 (pricing code 16POP). When I placed the order the sales...

    Knee Pads?

I can no longer kneel even for a couple of minutes with knee pads. I have a low padded seat on 4 swivel casters that is 10" off the ground that gets a lot of use, and sometimes I just sit on the ground/floor. Thankfully, my backside still works.

    Workmate

I've had a workmate for years that I used out in the driveway before I had a shop. Now it only gets used when I'm over at a relative's house doing some work.

Delta 10" Contractor Saw Model 34-444

My table saw from 1993 has recently died. The front trunnion casting is broken in two pieces. I've been searching the internet for a replacement part (422-19-095-2001) or a local donor machine without any luck. Compounding the problem, the parts list in my manual lists a different part...

    240 volt Circuit Breaker Protection

Thanks for all of the great responses! A sub panel does seem like the best approach, and including an additional 120 volt circuit would probably be wise.

    240 volt Circuit Breaker Protection

I'm planning a small shop expansion which includes finally bringing 240 volt power into my shop. Every slot in the main breaker panel is full, but my electrician has proposed doubling up some of the 120 volt circuits with tandem breakers to make room for a 50 amp breaker that will feed a NEMA...

    What size of garage??

IMHO matt i has offered some of the best advice you are going to get. I moved into a house with a 24' x 28' garage that quickly filled up with cars, laundry area, kayaks, surfboards, and all the usual stuff most people store in their garage. So I blew out the back wall and added a 20' x 30'...

How do you store your lift adapters?

I have a Bendpak MD-6XP scissor lift with the usual low, medium, and high lift pads; as well as, frame cradle pads. I keep them in a heavy duty plastic tub 2' diameter x 2' high. My cars are low, so I remove all adapters when driving on and off the lift. I'll bet there are some clever folks...

    Extractor overview (pic heavy)

I recently picked up a set of Norseman left handed drills and spiral screw extractors. This is the first set I have ever had any success with in removing small diameter screws. I highly recommend this set. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0036YW6WC/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Rik O'Shay I'm not a big HF fan, but I'm hearing rumors that this welding cart is pretty heavy duty. What is your opinion?

    Bendpak cradle pads

My Bendpak MD-6XP shipped with round pads, so I also ordered frame cradle pads to lift my F-150 by the frame. I also use them at the front frame lift points on my Mustang, but use the round pads at the rear lift points where the lift area is fairly wide and not a smooth surface. I also use...

Anyone have a suggestion on Biscuit Joiners

I've had a DeWalt 682 for about 10 years. Always does an excellent job. It is setup for size 20 biscuits which are good for general woodworking and furniture making. Not a bad choice for the weekend woodworker.

Need Lines On Bare Concrete Shop Floor

I have bare concrete floors in my shop and wish to put a few lines on the floor to indicate the optimum locations for my scissor lift and race ramps. The race ramps in particular get relocated when not in use. I temporarily have put down some wide painter's tape which was easy to re-position...

Anybody with a BendPak MD-6XP? Front Lift Arms?

Just got my new Bendpak MD-6XP (with black paint) setup. What I have noticed is that the reported bending is a twisting of the lift deck at the open end of the lift where the arms are attached. No twist is observed at the opposite end of the lift which has an extra cross beam support...

Aligning a car to pull on lift

Like the OP, I find driving onto ramps a bit challenging. After seeing this thread, I picked up a $6 mirror (50" x 13") at Home Depot and made a wooden frame to stiffen it up and make it easier to temporarily mount to the front of my workbench. I don't use ramps very often, so when not in...
