    Sump Pump needs

if the pump never runs, you can get away with 1, but buy 2 cheap ones for insurance. if the pump runs all the time, skip buying 1, buy 2 cheap ones for insurance. our pump runs all the time, mid summer or dead of winter, 1-3 times an hour for approx 15seconds. so I have 2, one in the hole and...

How far can a 2x4 rafter span???

10x30' shed I used 2x4 on 24" centers ~11' gap with a 2/12 pitch, tin roof used 1x2" strapping to attach tin too we have snow here, sometimes lots of it. and the wind is constant (built single slope to the west/windward side) just in case I added 2x6 supports running center of gap so 2x4 was...

    Finally mounted my clamps

can all of those be accessed from standing? envious of the clamps, and numbers of them... but being 5' 8" I see them being out of my reach (mid height people problems I know. any reason you didn't go 2 or more deep for each? even just back to back (1face wall, 2nd face open air) would take...

    Canadian Blower & Forge DP15

Canadian Blower & Forge DP15 Picked this one up for a song recently, and am rather happy with it after getting it loaded (thanks Nathan) and brought home. Purchased from local area high school which is amalgamating with another, so a bunch of machines are redundant now. Original paint is in...

    Attaching metal top to workbench

what size is the bench top? you lay a 2'x4' sheet of 1/8" down it shouldn't wander to far anyway. if you're really concerned, grab some 3m double sided foam tape. will hold well enough, but also come apart easily if need be as the foam will tear. then easy clean up with razor blade.

    Canadian Tire DEALS

as long as CTire keep "printing" socket sizes on, I won't buy anymore of them. I have both sae & metric that are 90% unreadable, and I **** at guesstimating.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

parked a new jointer in the garage for a basic tear down. just enough to ensure everything moves smoothly, and will continue to do so for another 40+ years. Wadkin Bursgreen BFT, 9" jointer, 2hp on 3phase (waiting for new VFD to arrive) Won it in an online auction from a local high school...

    Miter Saw / Tool Chest

how often do you use the mitre saw? if rarely, leave it off any stand and store it when not in use. I use mine in spurts, few days at a time on a project, then hidden away for months. do you have a table saw? if you don't need extension wings on a miter saw, you could make a simple crosscut...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Installed 2 new to me pieces on my Delta 12/14" table saw 1. Jessem Mast-R-Slide, Sliding Cross Cut Table. 2. Delta T2 Fence, normally setup for 30" capacity on right side, but because of the crosscut table the fence rails could be shifted to the right another 10-12" I just have to complete...

    Show us your welding projects

I like it, but can't help but think the small piece of round stock sticks out as out of place. would flipping the rail spike and using the small lip work to prop the bottle enough?

    Craftsman professional table saw

unless the belt has sat for extended time and "ovaled" to where it vibrates upon use, I would skip a new stock replacement... and go for link belt as a replacement. should quiet the machine down a bit, and reduce what little vibrations there are to hardly anything if at all.

    Show your new tool arrivals

I like the blade retention, however do you need a tool/driver to replace the blade or does it have a little removable piece that you can use? be a piss off to break one end, or it becomes dull and you have to find a small flat head just to swap ends.

just brought home the Lincoln 210MP, picked it up the day the new rebates were offered... loved that timing! Get your final price for what you want. Have a preapproval from your bank for that amount and the rate they would give you. Goto LWS or where ever you expect to buy and see what they...

    Wood Shop and Carpentry Considerations

just to correct the statement in bold. there is a huge difference from 2hp - 5hp when it comes to dust collection. although hp doesn't have a lot to do with it. impeller sizing, properly sized ducting, static pressures, and all the calculations that go into what each machines requires CFM wise...

Actually Bosch is trying to do just that, but the SS creator is fighting them every step of the way so that he can "maximize profits" You mentioned above "I've never even come close to a kickback. Can it happen? Sure! But the user would have to be negligent in selecting and/or prepping the...

Lucky guy, can he remember what mistake was made to cause that situation? Be interesting to measure blade run out before/after an "event" I don't "hate" on the technology as it has proven it's worth time and time again, the creator though... him I could do without. I don't think "haters" are...
