Vintage 70s Sears Floor Jack New in Box

Are the seals and o-rings available at a bearing supply house?

Decide not to rebuild my classic Sears floor jack

Yes. That's where I was going for the rebuild kit.

Decide not to rebuild my classic Sears floor jack

After checking with the few hydraulic shops in the area, not one was willing to take on a rebuild of my trusty Sears 326-12002 floor jack. I did find the rebuild kit on Ebay for $60 but after viewing a couple of videos, I decided it's too big of a project to take on at my age. One of the shops...

    Wire wheeling garden tools

My wife is wrapping up her garden for the winter. She gives me her shears and pruners to clean and preserve until spring. I usually lightly dress the edges with a stone and and then take them over to the grinder and knock the surface rust off with a extra fine wire wheel. I then check the...

Is this really a triple square socket?

Also vintage "Airhead" BMW motorbikes. Our con rod bolts are XZN even on my 1975 so it's not a new thing.

    Combination spanner set

I have the stahlwille 14 - 11 combos and like them a lot. That said I would not hesitate to go with a good Taiwan or Japanese set if the price was right and offsets fit my anticipated work.

    Old Craftsman crackled paint

The guy in the VHT "How to" video hits the valve covers with a heat gun but I seem to remember something about putting freshly painted items into a low temp oven at 200° to raise the wrinkle finish.

Stahlwille 14 or Wright Grip? Lengths and your thoughts?

One hobbyist vote for Stahlwille combos. No experience with Gedore. I have SnapOn SAE tools and, although very different in execution, I feel the Stahlwille are their equal. The SnapOns may be stronger in a tool test IDK, but I doubt that it practically makes any difference unless you've got a...

Ridgid brushless impact driver: can't even loose lug nuts?

I have a nice Makita LXT 3/8" impact. It'll do most any fastener on a motorcycle. I was doing a brake job on my 4Runner and had a stubborn caliper bolt. The Makita wouldn't break it. I knew I was expecting too much out the small battery impact but I was curious what it would do. I got my 1/2"...

    No leak just pressure loss.

How to check fluid level on Sears 326.12002 jack?

After 49 years of faithful service, my classic Sears 325-12002 jack has started to bleed pressure. I went to check the fluid level and I grasped the rubber plug with some pliers and tried to twist it and pull it out. I didn't come easy and I was afraid I'd tear the old rubber so I let off. Is...

7" glass headlight (6024) retrofit H4 conversion kit.

Yeah this. Very similar to the OE headlights on mid-70's BMW airheads. With the relays, it's quite possible (but not necessarily legal!) to up lamp these. I would have gone LED in my airhead if not for the price and the heatsink in an already crowded headlight shell with no ventilation.

    Good crimp terminals

Most of my work is vintage motorcycle and automotive. My only concession to modernity is the use of Deutsch DTM for multiple conductor connections and the occasional Molex to match an existing item. I must give a caveat that I am OCD about wiring and I absolutely do not use insulated crimp...

    Favorite Nitrile Gloves?

I use these too. If they're not torn from a job or too filthy, I turn 'em inside out and stick 'em on a screwdriver handle to dry. This way I get multiple wearings out of them.
