    Lumens to lumens...Fluorescent vs incandescent

Lumens is lumens but beware the light spectrum can vary..if your prefer softer color go lower K temperature in CCFL..higher 5000+K numbers are whiter - cooler. Same for traditional filament bulbs including halogen. LED lights are coming along for CCFL equivalent but the total watts can surprise...

4 jackstands on a5 degree sloped driveway?

....pulled out my old T.I. calculator (no slide rule found) and compared the strength of white pine to the what if condition is 2 tons, three of four jack stands actually support car. Civil standard design limit for pine is rated 6000 psi. If the jack stand has one side on edge raised up by wood...

4 jackstands on a5 degree sloped driveway?

Tell me what you think about my suggestion to level the BOTTOM of the jackstands by putting hardwood under the legs on the low side ? Dosn't that completely eliminate the bending load you speak of and make them just as safe as if they were sitting on a dead level driveway ? Kind've like my wide...

4 jackstands on a5 degree sloped driveway?

btw- 6 degrees is around 10% of weight sideways on the stand. that's about 1/2 of a 2 ton car thats 200 pounds of side load on the tall tooth castings and if raised to 18" is a BIG bending load on those parts. The resulting reaction force to the base would have a shear load on the same...

    Speedaire Aircompressor ?!??

Agree with Zrexxer- simply remove the gauges and install 2" gauges with rating of 160 psi or higher. Put a simple quality 1/4 pipe sized regulator as well. The electrics will require replacing with the same type on similar compressors. replace the compressor pump oil and make sure the tank is...

4 jackstands on a5 degree sloped driveway?

Not at 6 degrees..at the least a wider counter 6 degree sloping wedge is needed. The base of the 4 ton Craftsman stands are almost same as a 3 ton

    Speedaire Aircompressor ?!??

Your model number is 4B244. I mentioned Grainger but they were at one time a Dayton product. Zrexxer has good info as well and is a 20 gallon tank.

Repairing a pin-hole in garage sink's faucet spout neck???

I'd take of the spout and let pour some latex or enamel paint to coat it from inside out. Sort of like a slush coating.. just pour excess back in the can.

    drilling holes???

Forget drilling- use an end mill or end mill to flat then drill/ream. A rotary table at 90 degree to the spindle will help. EDM can also work well if the hole needs to be square..

    Family/Kid Work Table Attachments

I'd make a simple fold out step stool that pivots out from the bench. Another option is a shorter small bench that folds down from the taller bench legs. We used step stools with our two kids a lot. Have small storage space for "their tools".

Aluminum: How to sand and cut without "loading up?"

Here is a Starett link on using positive raked hook blades and various thickness- http://www.starrett.com/docs/saw-resources/blade-selection-in-five-steps.pdf?sfvrsn=2 I use a 8-10 tooth blade but only cut up to 1/2". The larger the number the thinner the material. Probably 6-8 tooth hooked...

    Mixed feelings for Sears

fyi, went thru Sears store in route to another retailer. Noticed many larger Craftsman tool cabinet inventory close outs. Had some new stock of "HD series" cabinets on the floor. I imagine more downgrades in product performance/quality "cost reductions" soon? If they focused on quality general...
