Bottom of rubber seal is smooth, not ribbed. Hate to put anything down that will become a magnet for **** to stick to the seal. Never thought of the powder idea or the fine sand. I was leaning towards a spray lubricant but may try the non-spray options first.

I'll give the silicon spray a shot. I was hesitant to put anything on it with the temps dipping below freezing but can't imagine the silicon spray causing any problems.

Water pump lube....never heard of it but I'll check that out. Thoughts on anti-freeze? Alloy/aluminum head so I'm thinking to go with the Toyota factory anti-freeze instead of the yellow Prestone from Autozone. What's the thought on that, worth spending the extra coin for the red long life...
