    Astro Bouquet

I've had to bring home my work tools recently and I ended up combining my home and work Astro lights. This is how I decided to store them.

    Atlas Lath

I just got this old Atlas Lathe and am setting it up at work. It's model 111, sn 9532. I can't seem to find much info online about the age. It seems to be fully operational and has tooling, chucks, etc.

    Campbell Hausfield 80 Gal Compressor

I am hoping to get this 80 gallon compressor from an estate. I was told $750 which I think is pretty good. It is a US made head with a 7.5 HP, 230V 1PH motor. This thing is a beast and very heavy. The cheapest I have seen a new one was about $1800 plus shipping. What do you all think?

    Drilling rusty metal

Hey guys, It has been a while. I am installing a section of new flooring in a semi-trailer. I replaced the I-Beam floor supports in the rear section due to rot. I installed new oak flooring on top in the rear ten feet of the trailer. The issue I am having is where the old supports are. They...

    Another spontaneous fire

This fire was around the corner from me. The house was a recently purchased forclosure someone was fixing to flip. It was later determined that the floors were refinished and the materials were left in bags outside the back of the garage which spontaneously combusted. Just another reminder...

    Another Vise Jaw question

I have a USA made, 5-1/2" Columbian vise someone gave me when they got a new one. It is a nice vise but one of the jaws is broken. I have search and searched but cannot find the right jaws that will fit it. I was hoping to just order some but apparently it isn't that easy. Mine are 5-1/2"...

    sears tool cart on sale

This tool cart is on sale at my local Sears store for $99. It looks like it will do exactly what I need at the shop. I only need the couple of drawers it has to set it up for common PM type stuff and minor, common repairs instead of rolling my whole tool box around. Plus I could use the top...

Continuous Duty Compressor for Service Truck

I do service work on semi-trailers and am considering a continuous duty air compressor for doing PM's or testing brakes in the yard as opposed to bringing everything to the shop to save time. I am considering something like the one in this link...

    Bosch Oscillating tool TODAY

I need to buy a new oscillating multi tool today. I beat my old cheap Mastercraft one up one too many times cutting into oak trailer floors and now it is only good as a noise maker. In any event I am looking for one that should take a beating and I came up with two. The Fein and Bosch MX30. I...

    Snap On Truck Sna Fu

We have a Snap On dealer that comes to the shop I work at but I never see him because I work nights and weekends. So this last weekend I borrowed a test light that has a volt meter in it from a shop mate who works normal hours. I liked it so I asked him if he could order one for me. He sent a...

A little help with MC tanks

I am working on a friends bike that has been sitting for several years. I drained the fuel, removed the carb to rebuild it etc. The stench of the gas was awful! I looked inside and the tanks are all rusty and gummy. I plan to use POR 15 tank repair kit which I have used a couple of times...

    Another Welder/Generator ?

OK. I have read several threads on several forums and seem to get differing opinions. I recently test used my Hobart Handler 187 MIG on my Honda/Dayton generator. It is a "professional" model, I don't remember the model number of the top of my head. But it is rated at 5500 watts continuous with...

    OH OH.....and it smells...

I think I may have a skunk trapped somewhere in my garage. I don't know for sure that is what it is. My wife said she heard some scratching and our cats were hanging around at the bottom of the stairs where the door leads to our garage. I thought it was a mouse but she said is sounded bigger...

    Cool free stuff

I just scored a really nice, and fairly old I think, set of Cronotron torches. They came on an antique looking cart which was in tough shape and really too big for my needs but the torches have the cutting torch and four different welding tips. Along with it are a pretty old Airco multi wrench...

    Timing out of the Forum

Am I the only one? Is this a setting on my end or with the site? I find that often I am in the act of typing a response and by the time I finish and hit submit I am already timed out of the site. So I have to copy and paste what I did so I don't loose it. I get that if I walk away for ten...

Ingersoll Rand Gas Compressor Issues...help please

OK. Some of you may have seen parts of this in another thread. I got a model 2475 T30 Ingersoll Rand Gas compressor given to me but it was missing a lot of parts. Basically it was a tank and the compressor head. I got a parts list thanks to another thread and a member who was kind enough to...

    angled locking pliers

I found some very old posts on this with no real answers to the question so I thought I would try again. I recently bought some Master Mechanic angled, long reach vise grip type pliers much like the ones in the link below. They were only $16 so I didn't expect a lot out of them but I wanted to...

    Some old pieces

I cleaned up my bench and had these on top of my stereo. I figured I would snap a photo and share. I would appreciated any info on the plane if anyone has any to offer. It has a brass adjusting screw and the blade says STANLEY on it with USA under it forming a V shaped logo. There is no number...

    New Old kennedy Box

At work we just intercepted this box from going in the dumpster from a lab clean out. We aren't allowed to take these things home but we decided it was too nice not to use. It's an old, round sided Kennedy and deeper than most that we see. Sorry they're sideways. I couldn't rotate them after I...

    Airforce 500i

I have been looking at plasma cutters for a while now. They have one on sale at a gas supplier I use and I think I'm finally going to take the plunge. It's a Hobart Airforce 500i. I am just trying to see if I can get any further discount through our sales rep first. I will try to post pics when...
